What bothers me most are the apologists on this board who believe for some reason making six figures by selling health insurance is immoral because not everyone can buy from us because they may be poor, sick or infirm.
The fundamental truth of this is that life is unfair and it is also unequal. Otherwise short white men would be able to make 7 figures putting a ball in a hoop. Face it we were born with disparities between us as humans both physically and mentally and that is the bottom line.
This belief that everyone is capable of participating in the american dream is as ill conceived as the belief that every person should be allowed to be a citizen and vote just because they were born on american soil.
I regret daily the fact that some uninformed creton's vote cancels my vote out every election and that elections are decided by emotional fervor rather than reason. That brings me to this debate on healthcare. It is about passion not reason. Reform will do nothing to lower the cost of insurance...it will not increase the quality of care....it will not help the people get access easier. It will only do two things; increase the power of the state and decrease the liberty of the individual.
That is what the battle is about in the end and always has been; whether the collective good of society is more important than the individual's success and freedom or not. Liberal's believe societal good is about collective advancement with the needs of the individual deemed irrelevant whereas libertarians believe the individual is paramount and society is better off when individuals strive toward their own ends.
