Touchy Subjects: Race and Gender when Selling Insurance

Getting back on topic----well spoken, intelligent, experienced women have a definite advantage---especially the ones who use their two ears twice as much as their one mouth.
Rambling, flighty, annoying, know-it-all girls don't stand a chance.

Well said, PCBinsurance. I couldn't agree more. I have found that a woman can be successful in this industry, but she needs to be logical and well read, and she must portray stability and maturity. Nothing scares a client from an insurance deal more than a flighty, illogical sales person whose very demeanor undermines her credibility.

yeah Ive heard something like that....but for me its no big deal. I dont need to get into that market, its too time consuming & unnecessary. I have plenty of white, black & english speaking hispanic ppl to target.

I do have 1 Asian client now Im doing a term policy with, he was declined with RNA term....now with Foresters S/I. But he mustve asked me 10 times "is Canadian company ok?" And Ive been working this case since the beg of Jan.

I love Foresters.
They operate "internationally" because you can't contain that much awesome all by yourself, Canada lol.

oops, I mean they are horrible clients and will lapse the policy after the first month.

I knew it! You almost had me there.

I rarely have Asian prospects but I remember one family from forever ago I just know would have been a sale had I been more experienced.

Asians are tough to sell anything to especially Indians. I have not found those encounters enjoyable.

Forget race as a determined of who will or will not buy....Want to decrease your closing percentage start prospecting engineers.

...........I bet culture is more important than race or gender..............

Actually I think race has nothing to do with it. I think it is all about culture. Obviously most of us don't understand Asian culture very well.

How long ago was forever ago when you've only been selling insurance for less than a year?
