Trans FE Question...

Hi All,

I'm new to Trans so unsure of how they underwrite their life. This is for FE app L122 in CA. Proposed insured was in a convalescent home in 2018 for about 3 months, recovering from a fall.

Part C3, question #7, asked if proposed insured has used a wheel chair or electric scooter in the last 2 years.

Since she was in a convalescent home, and was pushed around in a wheel chair while recovering, would this automatically put the client into a graded policy?

With Trans it does. They define the question as if they used a wheelchair one single time at Wal-Mart they will qualify for Graded.

Do you have any other companies to choose from?

Hi! Thank you very much for your answer! Yes I do, I have GPM and they will take her level at that. I was just hoping Trans since they're a little more competitive and have the Terminal Illness Rider.

If they use a wheel chair for recovery from hip, knee replacement, and you check yes to the question and tell Trans on the supplemental form it was used for a short period of time (temporarily) is it still a problem ?

I know some experienced agents who are at their wit's end with them also. Seems Trans is having some issues these days.

Haven't you heard? Word on the street is Trans will be the next FE carrier leaving the arena. Don't know how accurate this is, but you guys are pointing out some signals this is true.
Their immediate coverage with COPD is another signal. How can they make a profit on this block of business having immediate coverage when most other carriers can not? Duh?

The only thing I know.... they have in development the e/application why would they have been working a year on that on a product they're about to stop selling? They aren't going anywhere.

Actually, I never knew COPD was a serious condition until I started selling life insurance. I still don't understand exactly how it shortens someone's life but it must be brutal for the way carriers look at it.
