Transferring agencies with same insurance company ?

I've been with Erie for a long time through the same agency. No claims. Last fall I contacted my guy like I normally do for some questions and got no response. Called left message no call back. Sent e-mail through their online portal. After a couple weeks I tracked someone down and found out my contact at the agency had passed away.

Other folks in the agency could not hold up their end even from this point. No response or follow through. I have no patience when I am paying for a service, I expect folks to hold up their end. I contacted another agent near me and asked could he help me switch my business to him. He offered to help, but what a mess. Erie would not help since the original agency decided to sell and the original agency would not help, so the potential new agent and I decided to wait until the policy comes up for annual payment and then change. This is happening now.

Even this has proved difficult, the agency that bought the business is 45 minutes from my home and is resisting and not working with me to change.

I am told the new folks I want to work with will have to rewrite the policy. Is there a negative impact to me by them having to do this? Additional costs etc...

Thanks.

Brian
