So what's the skinny?

Are there any carrier paying commission ?
what documents might be needed

I have a client who I will move even if I cant get comp

I am very worried about this from the broker perspective. I would assume everyone is going to switch at their birthday to the lowest cost option and GI commissions aren't enough to my agency in business. Does anyone have experience in a state that made this transition and what it did to your renewal book?

They are making good progress in Maryland with moving though a producer compensation requirement for the Birthday Rule. Must pay the same as OE. Of course, OE comp could go down as a result
In Oklahoma we've had the Birthday Rule going on 2 years. It was done administrationally vs Legislativeĺy.
Language specifically calls it Open Enrollment. Most Insurers refuse to pay it as OE. They say it's GI. OKlahoma Insurance Dept. will not enforce its' own language. Who suffers most? The insured. Then the agent. Most agents are putting majority of BR with Blue Cross because they pay full comp. ACE will pay at somewhat reduced commision. It will be interesting if this blows up their blocks of business.
My experience is it's not that easy for someone to switch every year.
1.No agent is going to switch someone every year for $25 .
2. It takes some effort to switch without an agent.
Some companies will enroll directly, many will not.
One thing that has become extremely clear is agents have no one looking out for them.
Crickets from the IMOs FMO , big broker aggregators, etc.
