They do charge 1% interest monthly on advanced amounts. This interest charge could reduce your commission somewhat, but you can deduct it off your taxes.

United of Omaha has GI if the client is disenrolling from a Medicare Advantage plan within 2 years of enrolling in a Medicare advantage plan...if it was the first time they had enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.

Thanks for the info. Do you have more details on this policy? I have a client who was involuntarily disenrolled from Coventry Advantra after two years, and is now is another MA for two months now and wants out. Any chance of getting him through GI?

If your client was disenrolled by Coventry on Dec. 31 because they eliminated the plan, he has a GI with any med sup sold in the State. That GI period is for 63 days from the date his plan ended. That would give you until March 3, {or 4th}, to get him enrolled.

Thank you very much for the information. Can they get a Part D plan then, in the same time frame?

No. The GI is only for a med sup. He would have had to get a part D before Dec. 31.

But, if he is in an MAPD now and returns to original Medicare to get a medigap policy because of the GI, he would be able to buy a stand alone PDP.

If you are looking to do this, you will have to have the disenrollment letter he got from Coventry to send in with the med sup application. If he doesn't still have it, Coventry will send a new one. It takes them about 10 days to send a new one. You may run out of time if he doesn't have his original letter.

I had one with Family Life where the lady had lost her letter. We ordered a new one and I sent in the app. to Family Life with an expanation that we were waiting on the letter. They approved the policy, but, held it until I could get the letter from Advantra.
