Vemo Leads

They do not have in house people selling leads. I don't see people in person either, but I can effectively use the term "local" vs. other agents.

Doesn't always work, but I get an AOR letter about every 6-8 weeks because of that. And I assume an extra case or two. Of course, there are always people who actually prefer NOT to buy from someone local.

But, it does matter if 4 or 40 agents are calling.

Not if you "pissed in the well" properly

If you did this the client will know that they can expect at least 3 more calls, (or 33)
They already know that most of them will be from boiler rooms out of state.
They already know that I sell all of of the plans that future callers will be pitching, and I have already explained why my plan is better.
They already know that I have given them the correct price, and are not trying to : "Bait and switch".
They already know that I have been around for 17 years and only deal with reputable companies that have longevity in Texas.
They already know that I took the time to answer all questions, look up their doctors etc.
They already know that I am going to be holding their hands throughout the underwriting process.
In short I am without any doubt the best person to do business with.

NB: I usually take at least 30 minutes on the phone to close them on buying from me.

Expat...good points but it is indisputable that it does make a difference.

Case in point:

100 identical agents all calling 100 identical leads per week for a month. 50 of them call leads with 40 other agents and the other 50 call leads with just 4 agents.

There is no question whatsoever that statistically, it will make a difference.

All agents know this and that is why the number of times the lead is sold is a factor.

As for the "pissing in the well"...I have 27 years of experience and have sold more policies than almost everybody in this Forum (OK...that would be hard to verify). I use the same technique as you.

The simple fact is that 4 vs. 40 is a non-question. I think everybody knows this. I think you do too, but perhaps you're reading too much into it.

I know that I would like to be the only agent calling, but I am too cheap to pay for exclusive leads.
I do know that I do just as well with 3 agents or with 8 getting the lead. Mainly it all comes down to being the first to call.
Statistics would no doubt prove that the more agents getting the lead, the lower your chance of being first.
All I can say for sure is that I don't get enough sales.

For me, I fired netquote. they had too many bad leads and far far too many arguements over what a bad lead was...

Lead companies will be hot or cold depending on your area. What lead company works for me, may not for you in another state.

All I ask is that they be reasonable about credits. They have to understand when I credit it IS because I've checked 6 ways to Sunday and that person, address, phone etc.. just doesn't click. Also I will not pay for contest entrants, if I find out I got them...

Actually with my new one, I just got off the phone with a guy over two lead credits over the max. He was trying to tell me what a one time favor he was doing for me... when I stopped laughing and explained that I had others that I could press them on and no he wasn't doing me a favor at all, he was learning to be reasonable as I am.

I think the thing I've learned from this forum is quite frankly, don't be afraid to FIRE THEM! if they aren't going to work with you. You can always come back later, but there are dozens of these lead companies. I should never have to argue with somebody I pay... I am the customer in these situations. Any favors done for me are simply an effort to keep my business.

5 a day, if that amount is available in the evenings.
10 on Saturday and 5 Sunday afternoon.

Expat, So you are getting 40 per week or so. Out of that how many apps do you typically write?

Chumps, how about you, and are you working some evenings and weekends as well?

40 leads GROSS.

30% credits for uninsurable, and bogus leads, bad contact info etc.

28 remaining.

60% Will not answer the telephone or emails.

11 remaining.

2 of them will have someone in the family that has leprosy or bubonic plague or weighs around the same as a full grown elephant and is therefore uninsurable. Or they do not have a checking account/any money. I do not send these in for credit, in I try to write the remainder of the family. Not very successfully.

3 or 4 sales net. Occasionally I will write 5 or 6 but this is rare. (I think that there has to be a plague of locusts on the west side of the block for this to happen)
