Views on Working Week of the 4th

Yeah, I've told them I want the Tim W leads since he is not there anymore. Having those leads makes all the difference. I scheduled my 6 appointments for tomorrow in a little over 30 minutes and one of them has LH and another has Bankers. I just about asked if I could could see them today.

Lol, I would have been out the door on that one. It takes me about 30-40 minutes to set up my appts too but I usually only get about 5 and it never fails, one of them calls me in the morning and cancels.

This is a subject we discussed in a FSS class I'm moderating with a group of 5 of my newer agents this morning. Our first instinct was to focus on working hard early in the week since it is going to be a "short week." But after we considered that only a few of our potential prospects will actually travel away from home for the weekend, it quickly became a great opportunity as more prospects will be "off from work" and able to meet on Thursday and Friday than they otherwise would.

I guess it's like any other time in our business. If you believe it...you'll be right. If you believe that Thanksgiving and Christmas are bad times of year for sales, you won't sell anything that time of year. If you realize that more sales (I know this to be true for life) are made in November and December than in any other time of the year, you'll probably also have a great end of your year. What you believe about this week will ultimately turn out to be true! Good selling!

2nd call today setting appointments for tomorrow the guy said he needed to talk to someone because he had just taken out a life insurance policy and thought he was paying too much.

I asked him who he went with and he said "Lincoln Heritage". Makes my day when I hear that.:D

He is my first appointment tomorrow.

I love that too! I was at a guys house this morning and he told me the same thing. That was an easy sale.

You can sell insurance any day of the year, assuming you don't have to do a POS phone call. You can sell every last holiday if you want. There is no such thing as a bad time of the year.

That said, I got into insurance so I could control my life and not let my life control me. I really pity the person who thinks they need to sell on a holiday. Work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, enjoy Thursday and if you feel like it, work Friday.

Here here...Great post work it like any other people will let you know if the fourth is an issue just book them for the 3rd or the 5th.....

Unfortunatly I will not be taking my own advice as I sit here...In 20 minutes my wife and I head to the hospital for the birth of our son wish me luck.

Congratulations, Norwayguy.

With regards to working the 4th, or the week of, well, the claims world requires it. Always someone out there burning their house (or their neighbors house) down, not to mention all the missing fingers...

That said, since the OP decided to open this can of worms: Independent agents are just like independent adjusters in the sense that we all run our own businesses and determine our own productivity levels. Successful business owners are allowed a certain amount of freedom, in that we get to choose which 20 hours we wish to work on a given day. If you start taking time off (like a week, lol), simply because there is a holiday sometime during the week, while it may not close your doors, there will always be some enterprising competitor out there eagerly snapping up business that could have been yours.
