Wasting Time with SSI Debit Card

I called a prospect today and set appointment.

No health issues
No checking or savings
An SSI debit card

I realize LH and Liberty takes the card but seriously am I wasting my time with these as far as persistency? Then, I do not know what Liberty's health questions are or their commissions but LH is 65% as earned. If I get paid once at the 65% I may be looking at $20-$30 bucks which will take are of a few gallons of gas. Are these worth it?

Lastly, for those of you who only door knock how far do you get in to your presentation before you ask about a checking or savings so as not to waste a whole lot of time?

Thanks,

Ron

AmAm direct bill option?

During the pre-qualification. If they don't, I offer them a quarterly money-order option. About 10-20% take it. Otherwise I'm outta there.

I know one agent that picks up the money every month and the statement and pays it every month for the client with a money order. He does this for several clients and he seems to do pretty well.

I only see AmAm's "other" mode of payment so I am going to assume they allow direct billing?

Depends, if you see the immediate sale as the only thing of value then yes you are wasting your time. Give them the best service possible, learn multiple lines of business. I know its alot to learn, but medicare should be in your bag, so that not only do you have a lead for MA, but you also have the opportunity to get referrals.
Now if your lead area is so far out, maybe make an effort to determine whats acceptable, a certain mile radius, and anyone beyond that limit, you prequalify.

I was working a new area to me for the last few days. Very few connects via phone and 7 of 8 not home today. 4 of the leads were extreme rural...198 miles total. So I believe for one part of this area I will definitely qualify on phone as to health and checking/savings.

I will work the urban area as well as the rural areas over a period of time to get my numbers and see where I am best at.

wow 198? You sir are a go getter! I cut myself off at 50 miles max. But then again, I'm up in Cleveland...(dont get me started on our teams)

Since I am new at this, I plan on alternating 2 days in the city and 3 days in rural then 3 city/ 2 rural each week and over time try to see where my numbers are best(leads and sells), people are the nicest, and my persistency is greatest. Some just say jump out and do it but I like working by numbers and if I don't keep track from the beginning then how will I ever really know what works in my area?

Tomorrow, I will be working city and 8 drop ins. 3 out of 5 appointments last Friday in the city were no shows and the other two were "I will think about it," which is why for the next 8 in this city area I will test the waters to see how well I do just by dropping in.

AmAm doesn't cut your commission for direct bill. They do pay it as earned and they only pay their as earned business once a month.

Not an issue to me as I'm as earned with all business with them, but many agents don't like the as earned or the one a month pay.

You have to check "other" and write Direct monthly on the app. You do not have to collect the first premium. They will bill them for the first one.

If you do quarterly, semi annual or annual you do have to collect the money at time of application.
