Ok so. Since these updates recently launched I figured a bump in this thread might be useful.
Possum and Penguin both launched in the last 30 days or so. The former was a revamp to local listings and map optimization, supposedly making it easier for businesses close to or in outlying areas of general city search terms (e.g. Queens/NYC) more accessible, and aiming at removing duplicate address information.
Penguin's biggest change is instantaneous recrawling, apparently. Basically, if you mess up your site with penalties, in theory, if you fix it your site should be crawled again much quicker instead of waiting and praying the penalty lifts soon.
