Actually you are wrong. For those companies that do not allow multiple contracts the general rule is 6 months with no production OR a release and sometimes both.

American Amicable requires a release or no submitted business approved or not. Rosenthals primary company is American Amicable. Draw your own conclusion.
I was speaking primarily of term insurance.

But let's ask the question. Mark, will you grant a release subject to chargebacks and do it in writing?

Each Life Companie has their own rules. Such as United Home Life requires you even after getting a release to maintain the same commission level. GTL requires with a release to still go 12 months without writting Business.

Most companies do not require a release if you go just 6 months without production.

The release is subject to certain things with me. If their is a debit balance, and the other IMO is willing to assume the debit in writing then the agent will be released. I can not release any agent that I CO sign for and after I release them, I am still on the hook for the debit balance or block of business. Yes, I will release a non producing agent that I'm not on the hook for or the other imo will assume the debit for. Bottom line is that I don't want to be stuck with a debit balance after I release the agent. So it depends on the IMO that your going to and if they will sign for you.

Releasing is a two way street with IMO's. If I release an agent to another imo and then one of their agents want to come to us, and he does not allow this, then next time, I going to go by that IMO same rules.

I've only been asked for a release about 10 times in the last 8 years, and most of them come back after finding out, that the leads they were offered are no good. We give out some of the highest commission with our companies, training and support so we don't get that many request.

You will have to check with each Life companies rules, as to what they require to be released.

I think most agent never think about what all the imo's are on the hook for, when they co-sign for advancing and get stuck with these debit balances alot. We do not charge any kind of contract processing fee, or our own appointment fee.

Rick, if you do not have a debit balance that will roll up to me after I release you and you wish to be released to another IMO, then I will give you in writing the release.

Rick, I will email you a prelease if you wish, that states, that you can be release to any other IMO, if you have no debit balance or the other imo will take over your account, if you like. Just ask for it and I will email it to you.

By now, I think I've proven that I will call BS when I see it. I haven't seen it with Mark. I think it's pretty low rent for some of you to ask him a lot of these questions with no intention of ever calling him to discuss doing business with him. If this stuff matters so much, call him. Talk about what he has to offer. Ask him some tough questions. The worst thing that can happen is that you'll make a new friend. He doesn't curse enough for me, but he's still a great guy.

I asked Mark for a release prior to contracting with him. Since I don't ask for advances, he immediately sent me an email which I can send to any carrier if I want a release in the future.

There is no issue if an marketer adds a condition to protect himself in the event of chargebacks. Mark (and others) must protect themselves and I have no problem with that.

I have now asked him for contracts.

Mark,

Sent me the same email with the release since this post. I find them to be a great organization. I have contracts with them for two Critical Illness companies.
