Currently growing my commercial book with The Hartford though. Can't beat Erie's rates on preferred business that qualifies around here.

I'm not directly appointed, I have access to them through Smart Choice. And their service to me is excellent where I can call the Service Center and talk to individuals to do quoting real time while on the phone and any endorsements, etc. They take 30% and I get 70% new and renewal, however once my overall commission is 60K+ I get 100% commission on the policies written after new and renewal and I own the book of business.
Its much better than what my old boss was giving me 50 (me) /50 (agency) new and 30 (me) /70 (agency) renewal, with this its hard to make a living. We had argument over commission and decided to part ways and I started my own agency, and honestly I really love it and the freedom I have to spend time with family, etc. And most of all not worry about these stupid production requirements these carriers have.
But that is me some will agree some not, its what works best for you!
