Why Agents Think They Are Superior ?

Re: why agents think they are superior

I was ranked as the number one agent at cornerstone last year. I never wear a suit and tie- that is how I relate to my client. I ususlly bring a box of donuts and coffee to the clients house with me- that usually seals the deal for the producer..

What do you weigh these days??? Stuff em full of doughnuts and then sell them a rated life policy?? Good stuff.....

This is what works for me . I like to tell a few jokes sometimes dirty ones if I think they might like. If one of the clients are smoking I do not hesitate to to bum a cigarette and crack open a cold one with a cool client. I guess drinking and smoking with the client is not that unusual when half of my deals are signed at the local gentlemens club...

Re: why agents think they are superior

Just curious why most insurance agents think they are such superior beings. Many I know look down on the clients they are working for when they see how much income or assets they have..

Because they used to be mortgage brokers and now have this new great career with residual income :D:D:D

Interesting approach. There is probably a limited number of agents who can succeed this way. Most of the time, I try to involve the wife in the transaction.

I believe my clients deserve a professional approach, but that is me. I've sold insurance in shorts and sandals, I've sold it in business attire. I have pretty much retired the tie and jacket except for special things. I like to use a logo shirt and dockers for most appointments, it's a professional look without being to intimidating.

I work at not looking like a banker, but can definitely see why people go for that look.

IMO you are only what you believe to be. I think you could walk around in a clown suit and still be a top producer if you truly believed that it fit your persona and worked best for you. I "personally" prefer other professionals to look, talk and act like professionals - banker's suits, nice shiny shoes, non-flashy accessories, proper English etc. So that's how I try to look.

The weight is not much of a problem- I keep it in line with alot of pill popping-speed.........I can eat lots of donuts this way. Developing a bit of a drinking problem-do alot of prospecting at the bars and taverns

Here's an idea:

"Sir, this here's the paperwork for your lottery winnings. Like the lottery down the road, the pot is a million bucks for your family if you win. And like the lottery down the road, you have to pay a small amount for a ticket every month. But UNLIKE the lottery down the road, this one is GUARANTEED to pay off. Only hitch is, you have to die to win, and we don't know when that will be, that's the lottery part."

"But look folks, we got filet mignon and champagne catered in, should be here in about five minutes. So sign here. Press hard, 3 copies."

Let me ask this- how many of the agents out there where a stiff business suit with a neck tie when you meet with a client. I have found that most agents that over dress to meet a customer in their home is because they want to let the client know how important they are . By doing this they are telling the client that they are in a class above them. Pulling up in fancy luxry car and add some a gold watch and that completes the costume.

Just because you feel inferior to successful people, it doesn't mean that everyone does. Most people prefer to discuss financial issues with successful people rather than poor people. You're not really a producer, are you?

I don't wear a suit, but I do wear a gold watch and my office building is pretty elegant.

dropping speeders, drinking problem, dirty jokes, smoking.....wow, good luck with all that:skeptical: maybe you should consider writing a book on sales ??
