Why Do Insurance Agents Ask if You Are Currently Insured?

Primarily they ask for 2 reasons...

1. If you were without insurance you are a higher risk and thus will be charged more, and

2. By applying a transfer discount, they increase the chances they can lure you to their company by making it easier to match or beat your prior carriers rate.
