Why Specialize in FE?

Been watching the forum for awhile and notice that many of the more successful FE agents ONLY write FE. IS this the best route to go and why?
FE is typically immediate issue. Paid within one week and is affordable for most who apply. Just make sure the prospect has an active checking account. Average premium is ~$45 mo..

It pays big 1st yr commish which helps survival in the begining
Later on you can cross sell the fe clients for the higher renewals on things like med sups
Or not...just keep doing the fe

Re: Why Specialize in FE? Those of us with ADD

I buy telemarketed leads and most of them come from fairly poor neighborhoods. Most of them have very little money and its all they can do to just pay for FE. They can't pay for an annuity or critical illness policies. From what I hear med sups don''t pay all that well.

I have sold FE for 4 years and in that time have sold two term policies and two traditional whole life policies. I try to avoid anything but FE. Not saying it's right or wrong its just how I prefer to work. Some people would suggest I am leaving money on the table but most people that know me think I am doing pretty good.

I like leaving a home knowing they are approved, which might also be why I am not enthrawled with Americo. There are many different ways to make money in this business. Some people cross sell. I don't. I like things to be as simple as possible. If I go on the road for two days I expect to sell 4 to 8 FE policies. My brain is too small to clutter it with med sups, universal lilfe, term life mortgage insurance etc. If they seem to have a need or a want for FE I will work the hell out of them anything else and I lose interest.

Hi , this is exactly why I am going to do FE only. However I am afraid I may get bored with it, but that is my plan now.

This career is a lot of things, boring isn't one of them.

I sent Newby a picture of my first stop today labeled "my people". I did that because it was a home that he says he can't believe that I get business from those places. Wrote 2 apps there.

Then I sent him a picture of my second stop. Really nice well kept home. Blacktop driveway, extensive landscaping, huge shop building and a note on the door to the "insurance man" that they had changed their mind about meeting. I titled that one "not my people".:D

Just another day in the life of the FE agent.

At least they were considerate enough to leave a note instead of standing you up and refusing to answer the door. Those were the only ones who irritated me when I was working in the senior market.

I like the ones that you know are in the home but will not come to the door. I call them just to make sure that the person I am there to see is in fact inside and not rushing home to make my appointment time (yeah right!) and they say, "oh, I changed my mind, I don't need to see you."

That would make a great FE Instagram. I would follow it.

That is so true. I have always wished the Post Office would issue a special "Trailer Park" zip code.

A couple of months ago I was training a new agent. The first house we stopped at (had an appointment) left a note saying "He changed his mind and doesn't need the insurance". I chalked that up to a training opportunity on the "realities" of the business. We wrote 5 apps in four appointments the rest of the day. A few weeks later I was with the same new agent, doing another 'ride along' and I said, "Let's stop by and see those folks who blew us off last time". We left that house with $1200 ap. Another reality of the business, one of the:) most fun realities!
