Why don't you get a carrier you don't mind dumping crap onto and just use them for the crap?

EXACTLY!!! You already spent your time talking to these people, why not make some money too? In no was would I suggest you write these kind of clients with carriers like Travelers or Hartford, but you get my idea.

Because we still have a loss ratio... and trying to get appointed with a new company... say Auto Owners... They look at your loss ratios.
 
I try not to turn anyone down, but if they are a bad risk I will quote them on the appropriate policy sometimes they will go with it and sometimes they will not. either way is fine but atleast I am not turning them down and its not effecting my loss ratio.
 
I am at a point where I am trying to be more selective of what I write as well. I try to give people a chance and I dont like to turn them away however 90% of your work goes into 10% of your customers and they are not the good 10%.

I actually started not writing monolines and that has helped. I quote the home and auto as a package and dont give them the opportunity for a quote on just one.
