I was just licensed 12/01/2008 last year in Florida (215). I'm workinging as an independent doing 403(b) work. I currently have 23 schools.
I have also been told to hook up with another company (by my independent agency) to cross-sell life and long term care. I also do 401k rollovers and set up IRA's.
I have been on 3 appointments so far and closed all 3, pretty much annuities. Being independent, I am free to do other insurance. I was considering health, but every agent I have meet in the office so far wants out of health. Just to clarify, I am new to insurance. Before I was a project manager, sales manager, business owner all related to the flooring industry.
I am grateful for the opporatunity that I have been given with this company. I am a people person, single, no kids, with some money set aside to ride me out for the next few years.
My question is, should I stay out of health for some reason? It seems that those who I have spoken with at the office don't like health due to the hours is my guess or maybe they find people who are uninsurable, I dunno?
I don't mind working nights and weekends. My friend does health but she does it secretly (I think) as the health company would not approve of her doing the independent thing too.
Am I trying to bite off more than I can chew? If not does anyone know of a company I should stay away from or ones that might work for me as far as health goes?
Anyone here in the Volusia county or Orlando area want to speak with me? Any questions that need more details on from me just ask. I'm trying to do the best I can because I would like to be successful in the biz. It just seems that others in the office are coming out of a field where they still work until this business provides them with enough money.
Any thoughts or contacts would be appreciated like list of companies or contacts for me in my area.
