Does anyone know for a fact that we are even allowed to use the Handbook?

Yes you can! One of the plans I work for has images of it in their sales presentation that is approved by CMS. When you're using it in the house your helping educate them about what's available, so in all reality it's being used as an educational tool.

Absolutely! This is a Medicare publication, not private marketing material.

You would be surprised at how many people never bother to open it. I just came back from a presentation today, and when I asked to see theirs, the wife said she threw it away after it came! After briefing them, she now wants a copy.... I told her to pull one up on the Medicare.gov site. In the meantime, used mine even though it's for Kansas and we were in Missouri....

I show people how to use the publication to find important info, and even where to call toll-free (SHIP) to check my info out if they suspect I have misinformed them. You'd be surprised how effective that is towards re-assuring them I am legit.
