YIO and IPad

It theory you could run it by using one of the many desktop control programs for ipad, like ignition, but basically what you'd be doing is using your home pc and it would require internet access.

A neater trick would be to figure out how to duplicate the access db in both locations using dropbox to sync them, and interface with the DB on the ipad using a different frontend.

I use Go to my PC on my iPad to run all my desktop programs but it is very slow and costs around $10 monthly.

There are other iPad programs that should do it that may be better. The highest rated one is $1 per month. I haven't tried it yet.

Just wondering why everyone insists on using the wrong platform for their programs.

If YIO on a portable device is of utmost importance, then buy a laptop. YIO only runs on windows based machines.

Ipads are wonderful for what they do. They won't run .exe files nor flash. I bought one and sold it within 2 months.

I now have an 11.5 inch mini-laptop, must faster than a netbook which runs Win7 Prof. 64 bit. Not as cool as signing on a ipad (and damn, that IS cool), but for my purposes it's a great machine.

Why reinvent the wheel?

Don't you still have to boot up a mini laptop? When you're in your car do you want to boot up a laptop every time you want to look at your calendar or check your notes or look at the health questions on an application?

If your laptop is connected to the Internet and you have net access with your iPad there is nothing it won't do.

I said it works for me. As far as booting up, it takes a few minutes but I can always leave it in hibernating mode which gives me an almost instant boot.

My iPad experience was trying to access an internet site that required flash to quote a prospect for LTC. Obviously this did not work.

Most of my business is not computer driven, but using paper apps.

Again, if an iPad works for others, then great. But the original question was using YIO on it.

They both have their strong points but the convenience and battery life and there are ways to go about anything on your tablet including run those quotes and flash by accessing your PC through the tablet.
I do wish the iPad ran multiple programs at once OR that the HP/palm tablet didn't die a quick death.
