Your Business Card

I just have a clear and readable card, nothing distracting. I also have my business motto in italics centered on the card.................. ........". I would rather people remember ME than the card.

I have to agree. We just redid ours.

Other than our contact info, company name and my name. I have my title - Independent Agent and in italics - since 1985

My name, 800# and email are bold. Those are the three thing that I want to stand out. Plenty of open space. Heavy, coated, matt finish white paper.

Now, if I decide to do a mailing I may do a card aimed at that. More marketing. Company name highlighted. My name omitted. My target market printed on the back. Like term or FE. Maybe even oversized. and some graphics.

When you order cards thru vista print you can get an electronic business card. You attach it to your emails like a signature. It will be a relicated elec. version of your actual business card. I think it's an awesome idea, for your clients to see repetition... it keeps it uniform.

I didn't search the forum history because I wanted the newest and current trends. I typically get my cards from VistaPrint. On one side I'm putting my URL, a toll-free phone number with a targeted message/voicemail, my name, my direct phone number and these bullet points:

Final Expense Life Insurance
Long Term Care Solutions
Medicare Supplements
Legacy Gifts for Family & Eternity

On the back (which I can display as the front) I put an "advertisement" for a great term life plan for kids ($25K for $25/year) which is convertible to a permanent plan up to age 16.

This is a great prospecting product to use with parents and grandparents I'm thinking-- just got appointed to sell it.

What happens if/when the company changes that product? Also do you only sell final expense life?

That is a good question! While VP makes it cheap and easy to just purchase new cards, what about those clients that hang on to your card, because they "don't need it" right now or want to look at other options. Now it's a few months down the line and the client is expecting to receive what is listed on that card, only it's a) not available anymore OR b) rates have gone up.

I have a "general use" card, but was creating this card particularly for the senior market. The Legacy Gifts bullet point references the SPWL concept and the LTC could include some life products with LTC riders.

If the company changes the product, I change the card. I get them at VP for $20/250 or so cards.

I'm trying to create the mini-billboard that will stimulate thinking and initiate contact. I don't even have the card yet. I'm roughing it out and wanted to get some feedback from people here first...

We'll probably have that conversation on the phone when they call. That's the COST OF WAITING!!!!!

I understand that's the dost of waiting, but because it's printed on a business card, I would expect that clients would expect that particular product and rate to be around awhile or indefinitely. I foresee clients being upset and shopping elsewhere should this happen.

Now I will say that this is from a noobie that's not even licensed yet, but this has been my experience in sales! I have been in sales for awhile, and I have found that if I print something and mail it (without an exp date) they expect that price/product to be honored indefinitely. I have found that I would honor old fliers just to keep or get new customers from going elsewhere.

Just a point to ponder before printing a product on a business card.

Whenever I advertise a rate (which I haven't yet, I just say the rate) I call it the 'current' rate.

If I was putting a rate on anything, including a business card, I would put 'currently' rates are or you can 'currently' get a policy for, ect. ect.

That is pretty cheap. Makes sense to target the card to the market. During the prosecting phase.

I may use them for some card magnets I do in house now.

Thanks

that is a great "subtle" message to send while updating the accuracy of the message!

I completely understand what you are saying. I don't expect this $25 price to change because it is viewed as a door-opener. Like the guy told me laughingly: "Basically we will pay you to prospect!"

Most people spend $25 for dinner at their local Mexican eatery on a Saturday night. I know we just did! I doubt many are going to hold the card for two years and then call...

You make a few bucks off the $25 premium (also a $250 paid-up option) but you got in the door and brought value to them so there is a very good chance that you will be afforded the opportunity to help them again!
