Good report Todd.

I'm glad you said what you did about what a Lead is. You should not have to spend an hour on the phone "fighting" for a lead credit. Call me to task if we ever do that to an agent. Ouch...

We piloted taking Live calls from our web site with our own in-house call center back in 2009. We could not monazite it. We were not cold calling consumers, we were taking live calls from consumers from our web site. It worked to a limited extent. We were trying warm transfers to the agents also. Problem with that is after hour calls:( Ultimately it was not cost effective. From what I've learned here from Josh & Ray, we should have been dialing out, not just waiting for the phones to ring in:(

What is a lead like you are talking about worth to you? I'm not ready to invest in this strategy at this time, but would like to know for future projects if this is worth looking into.

I don't recall a thread praising Any company that does tele-marketed leads. Do you all keep them a secret because they can't handle the extra customers Or ??

Again, good job with your report.

To answer your question about "good telemarketing companies", it's a flawed concept. Are there companies that do a great job at telemarketing? Sure, but I'm not aware of any that do well telemarketing for most lines of insurance. Commodity products like supps, health, auto, homeowners, etc lend themselves towards that type of marketing because they are a transactional sale, but that's really just low hanging fruit and most telemarketing firms can mess that up. From what I hear Bolder Calls does alright for some P&C agents.

One of the major flaws in the concept of an insurance agent hiring a telemarketing firm is that the insurance agents aren't prepared to pay what it costs to generate a lead, so they end up hiring folks willing to basically beg for scraps and then the agents are surprised when the telemarketing firms aren't delivering quality work. It's like me running an ad on craigslist looking for movers when I'm only willing to pay them $5/hr and then I'm surprised when they don't show up on time, take too many breaks, and my stuff ends up damaged or missing.

"I can no longer recommend YAL."

"Bottom line here is that I can no longer endorse YAL "

"For YAL to say they screen all of them before they are sent out, leads me to conclude that either they think all of them are good ones or they are not telling the truth about screening them. Either way, that's not a good"

The King has spoken

Leads are the agents life blood. my reason for beating up YAL, is to get their attention, in hopes they get their act together. this forum will expose bad lead companies. and hopefully praise the good ones. Todd good job, and if YAL improves lets us know.

A good "lead production company" will step up to the plate and admit when they sent out bad leads, and then just replace them. They will not start name calling and lieing about the people buying their leads.

I would like to think we all can agree on that.

Not that it excuses their behavior, but I think you would try most people's patience. You've said some pretty nasty things to them directly and without an audience. Again, it's not an excuse for what they've said, but you're hardly an innocent victim here.

I was quilty of calling a spade a spade. If I had been nice about the whole thing, many of the other posters would still be on the fence. I have countless emaiils from other agents thanking me for what I have said and done. And many of them have asked about my current lead source, and I believe you have also?

Nice guys finish last and you my freind appear to be one of the nicest guys in this forum. Your thought process reminds me of the politician who stated

!If your going to get raped, you might as well lay there and enjoy it?

My mind doesn't work that way. If I am going to get raped, I fight back. When YAL did to me what they did, I didnt just lay ther, I fought back. If you don't like the way I fought back, so be it.

In fact, your thought process makes me want to puke. Maybe if you"d grow a pair you might not be so content with 5/25. I bet you"ve got a lot of T-shirts at home that say RUNNER UP!

And I bet you wear them proudly.

That's exactly the type of tone that makes it more understandable why they would use less than polite language with you. I'm simply one guy on the internet that disagrees with your view of the situation and you've made quite a few personal attacks, what does that say about your character and what a pleasure you are to do business with?

I did ask about your lead source and from what I've been told, the leads you're working are absolute lay downs and are more of a testament to the ability of the marketers than your salesmanship, but I'm sure it's a joint effort. You're also comparing a $100-$150+ lead to a $16-$17 lead, of course your other lead source should be providing better leads.

When I am working with lead companies or clients I am above the board on everything I do and say. When I am in a sales room or forum speakng with other agents, I don"t feel the need to sugar coat my point. In the real world while sitting in sales rooms or forums you will hear and see many things that are not fit for public consumption. If that offends you, maybe you should cover your eyes and ears or just leave the room.

This is an insurance forum and you will from time to time see and hear things that might upset and offend you. Based on our closing ratios I am quite sure you have heard many unpleasantries from your past sales managers. One would think you would have grown used to it by now!

It's not a matter of how I take it, you're simply not just "telling it like it is". You're being excessively rude and usually without a reason. I disagree with your take on YAL and in exchange for that you've myriad of personal attacks. Frankly, it doesn't much bother me, but again, I think it shows an awful lot about your character when you'll lash at at someone you've never met for seemingly no reason. I don't recall whether you or YAL posted the things you've said between yourselves (perhaps you both did), but it's abundantly clear that you are more than willing to be overly nasty and offensive.

One of the most obnoxious things I've seen folks like you do is claim they're just "calling it like it is" or "calling a spade a spade". What exactly does Taco Bell have to do with your experience with YAL? My point is that it doesn't.
