SELLING insurance for about 20 years now seen everything and I tell you what, if you made a nickle from MA's in the last few years you should donate it to a senior advocates. getting $600 for 1/2 hr or 15k in a week is not righteous, you all should go to jail . and my insurance dep will need every penny of fines. Re: You've Gotta Be Kidding???

Here's the decision:

This is notification that we have completed the investigation of agent X regarding the complaint of member X alleging unauthorized enrollment (complaint received by plan May 21, 2009 with respect to a 2007 enrollment). There is no evidence of agent misrepresentation because the member advised the health plan that she wanted to return to original Medicare. The member has incurred considerable health care claims during her enrollment with the health plan. The health plan will take no disciplinary action against the agent in this matter. :nah:

Re: You've Gotta Be Kidding???

Glad to hear it has been resolved. I have been selling MA's for over 3 years and have not had one complaint. (Knock on wood.) I attribute this to doing a full compliant presentation, every time. Verification call every time. Document, document, document. I tell every prospect that if they enroll in a Med Advantage to put their Medicare card away in a safe place (file, lockbox) where they can find if they need it. I reiterate that they only show their "Humana" card when they see a doctor or go to the hospital. When I call in 2 weeks to see if they have received their ID card, I remind them again to put their Medicare card away in a safe place.

On the note of the providers - I am amazed at how much they don't know. They tell my clients they don't accept any Humana plans when it is only the group plans they are not part of the network. In Oregon we only have the MA PFFS. I am calling provider offices weekly to remind them the difference between a PFFS and a group plan. Drives me crazy!

It may drive you "crazy" but it is the ethically and proper thing to do regardless of the crap CMS is requiring. You should feel good about the way you are doing it. Not all agents are as diligent about the way they place MA plans and how they explain them.

Re: You've Gotta Be Kidding???

This carrier is Care Improvement Plus, and for what it's worth, this isn't the first complaint I have had through them. It IS typical of the complaints from customers of CIP. I have heard that when a customer reaches their "customer service," they are pawned off from extension to extension and return calls are rarely made. I have NEVER received a complaint from a customer of another carrier. It still baffles me as to how in the hell a customer could be "routed" to file a complaint nearly 2 years after effective date. Something suggest complicity on the part of CIP and their need to deflect obligations. Like any wise agent, I utilize due diligence and protocol during my presentation and delivery. Just goes to show that the phrase "bad apples" can apply to other than agents.

Even though it "drives me crazy" I will continue to it the right way. I feel good knowing I have done the right thing. Had a great one today.

Our DMS (the 800 number morons who set our appts) told my appt. that I was coming for a Med Supp appt. They did get the SOA over the phone (suprisingly). The prospect was told that the Med Supp was the price of our MAPD. Thank God I called first. I would have driven 40 miles one way for someone who could not afford it. I have permission to call her in the fall for a MAPD. Never a dull moment in this business! :goofy:
