$10,000 Budget Vs $500 Budget

That's what I am thinking. I have sold, trained and managed salespeople for 35 years, but never sold Life Ins. I know enough to admit that I am a ROOKIE Insurance Salesperson and know that I DO NOT want to lay out money on leads without industry experience.
You don't need experience to be able to write business on bought leads. Grab a copy of a good script & memorize it. As long as you work your tail off you'll make it. The leads do most of the work. All you have to do is get in front of the people asking for your help.

"The leads do most of the work."

I'd venture to say this false premise is why the failure rate is incredibly high in FE..

It is a false premise and only marketers that don't see will say stuff like that.

As to the original questions of this thread, it would be great to have a huge budget to start with . The more the better. But it seems most did not.

I didn't. Best I remember Rearden didn't. Seems I remember Travis saying he didn't.

I see agents every week coming into FEX with very limited budgets and making it work. One guy has been working old leads and just now got enough money to get some fresh leads. Says this week will be his first week with new unworked leads.

Would it have been better for him to have started with $5K and ordered fresh leads from the beginning? Yes, but he didn't have that luxury.

You can only play the hand you have. You can study on it forever but it will always come back to the person only being able to work with what they have.

In fact rearden started in FE and then went into Industrial Sales and sold FE pat time until he could get established and have enough of a cushion to work it the way he wanted to work it... He is proof that if a person really wants to succeed, they will find a way to make it happen.

JD what are you smokin man? If you buy 20 leads a week that means 2,000 + people were mailed and out of that 2,000 people you get access to the 20 most interested people. How is that not doing most of the work?

And by the way I wrote $7,400 last week and $13,000 so far this month. No marketer talk here :) never had any ride alongs or training other than a recording of someone's presentation and that's it. I didn't even know how to chose draft dates until a month later when Ben checked my business. This business isn't easy but it is simple.

People throw out high numbers all time - how are they fact checked? Is this fake news?

Probably not fake. But it's just one week and one month. I remember back years ago when I was new to NAA. There was some dude that came in and wrote $10K one week. The first in our group to do that.

Then he disappeared. Never saw or heard from him again. And haven't to this day.

I could post production history but then I would just hear crickets like when I was getting trolled about my leads & I came back & said I'd give JD 20 for free & he turned it down because "I don't track numbers".

So I'll just let you believe what you want :) the point wasn't to show off. Just refuting the marketer thing. I'm just an agent.
