How is it possible for some agents to make so much ?

Close a few big cases each month or close a lot of small cases each month. Develop a system that works for you and stick to it. Hire staff to do the other stuff so you can sell.
Anything is possible and depends on the agent.
It takes some time to build up a good block of business and to learn how to prospect or find a niche or great lead system.
I know a lot of season agents that make that much. I don't know many new agents that make that much.
It really all depends on the agent. You need to try and make some kind of a goal. My goal when I first got started was to sell 2 to 3 apps a week. As long as I did this, I could pay my bills and do everything I wanted to do. But even when I reached my goal, I didn't stop.

Find an agent that has created what you want and ask for guidance. As a new agent I remember, walking into an agents corner office and asking him if I could work for him for an hour everyday (for free) and in return would he spend a half an hour at the end of the week looking at my numbers, ratios and telling me what I was doing wrong and what I was doing right.
Worked like a charm. That year was the hardest I've ever worked in my life.
Made some money too........

It's called "nose to the grindstone." You'll have to go the extra mile, work the extra leads, push when you're tired, keep your attitude up and most of all, be a student of your profession. Know that you can do it, accept NOTHING less and you will do it. Those of us who have crossed into the six figure world paid a lot of dues. I've never seen, or heard of, anyone doing it any other way.
Yeah, I still remember making my 1st six figure income. Of course, it wasn't a full week though, I was in training the first 3 days. I have to admit though, the second week didn't go as well though, only made about half that!

Hard work and dedication. Many people do not know what it takes to make it in this business; which is why the fail rate is so high. Find someone who is willing to train you, and mirror their successful habits. I hope this helps............
Three things are required:
1. A system... You can't wake up every morning and figure it out... you must KNOW what you are going to do, and why.
2. Thorough knowledge of your craft. You must know the product, underwriting and little nuances backward and forward. Also having decent sales skills is helpful, but many agents with enough activity can be successful in spite of themselves, with enough activity. Super sales skills are not really required to make a good living in this business, as long as you compensate with other factors. (willing to talk to more ppl).
3. Someone to talk to... regularly implemnting # 1 and 2 above. This means leads, and lots of them. What you need to be doing is talking to a lot fo people, implementing your system and using that product knowledge, to help the client get what they want; (valued insurance coverage).
If you talk to 20, 30, 40 or 50 ppl per day, you cannot help but make 6 figures over again. The sad fact of the matter is, more folks in this biz (and others) aren't willing to pay the price of what it really takes; WORK.
