Here's my life insurance goals for 2013. I want to make them public to better hold myself accountable.
I've always eschewed specific numeric goals due to self-frustration, but I want to focus on a primary annual goal, and back it up with weekly activity goals, which should add up to my ultimate annual goal.
I invite you guys to join in with your own personal goals, as well. That way we can all collaborate on helping as many people as we possibly can.
Annual Goal: Write 300 lives. This can be new clients or existing customers. This is substantially more than I've done this entire year, but I know I can do it, if I can stick to the following activity and behavior goals on a weekly basis.
Weekly Activity Goals: Conduct 15 appointments a week. Surprisingly, I have much more latitude with my day job, that I'll be able to realistically get in 15 set appointments each week, either through door-knocking or phoned-in appointments. I will work 4 days a week (on top of the regular day time jay-oh-bee) and utilize an appointment setter to structure my day better.
Production Goals: I can reasonably expect to close 50% of my appointments, so I expect to write between 7 and 8 new policies a week; that, done 48 weeks out of the year, would hit my annual lives written goal. It will take me 25 leads a week to do this, maybe less if I can squeeze more referrals and business out of servicing customers.
Service Goal: Here's where I'm really going to step up. I'm personally committing myself to hand-delivering and reviewing each and every policy written to my new clients. I am also committing one or two days a month to do annual reviews via the phone. And I'm going to follow up on the lapses that occurred over the past 18 months, and any that happen on a monthly basis. This is vastly important for me, to take the next step up in my career and have a "Heart for Service" for my clients, as my perspective towards the Game of Life Insurance has changed dramatically over the past 6 months; ie, I love and believe in my work and how it helps the people I take care of.
Barring in personal crises, I promise to stay accountable to updating my progress, even if I fail to hit my own self-generated metrics.
Feel free to join in and post your goals, too!
Best,
Dave
