2yr ROP or AARP?

Hey TDF, PM me... I have an agent out your way who works for me and he has Old American.

Old American Insurance will do immediate coverage for Alzheimers.

Have him sell it, and You guys can work out the split.

I never said it would improve it, I actually said your option is the best, I just dont think its by a lot. It does improve it AFTER 2yrs, but during the 1st 2yrs it makes it worst....the UL makes it better immediately but long term theres some risk. Thats all I was alluding to!

And we all agree keeping both for 2yrs is the absolute best, of course!

I got another question along these same lines....I had another client in this same situation a week ago, EXCEPT he had other policies (all WL) adding up to apprx 25k. I replaced his 1 term (10k AARP) to WL with a 2yr ROP, but he still has 15k inforce with others....would u have done that? Or would u still have him convert it to AARPs UL??

I would have advised him to convert. I would not replace an in force, out of contestability policy with a new ROP policy.

Old American takes Alzheimers for imm coverage??

Whats the rate on a F/72/NS for 10k? Is it graded?

72 F/NS : 10K : $78.40

Its Immediate. As long as she can take care of herself with ADL and has the whereabouts to conduct a POS phone interview then she can get it. Old American is a captive company, my agent was appointed on exception, he is in the San Diego area. Let me know.

I don't believe that for a second. No way that Old American does immediate benefit for someone with alzheimers. Not knowingly anyway. They are ROP for copd.

Do you have the application?

It is the best option, by a lot, and you avoid the family sueing you if she passes during the 2-year ROP phase.

TD, which way are you going to go on this case?

Im going to go over this option with her (convert it to AARPs UL) and see what she wants to do. My job is to provide the best options for her & give her my opinion, but she must decide for herself...I will tell her that converting is probably the best option given her situation, if she cant afford both for 2yrs!

I would love it if she could keep both for 2yrs, but thats WAAAYYYY out the question, the WL plan is already $30 more then shes paying now. And she does take meds for Alzheimers, but shes not a severe case....Ive seen severe cases before!

Whats the down side of AARP's UL? Prices arent guaranteed, I know that....but how long is the UL guaranteed? Can it run out? Any other drawbacks?

If you do end up selling her another policy, I would protect myself by making sure that I had a family member present (preferably one of her children) as a witness and have them sign off on a form stating that you explained the two year wait for full coverage as well as the new contest-ability period to the insured (due to the "mild Alzheimer's").

here is the Old American app. The first section answered No gets you a graded plan. the 2nd section gets you their BMS plan, which is immediate coverage. the 3rd section is their preferred rate, but it has a minimum of 25K. So Their agents mostly sell the BMS plans. All questions must be No except questions 9 and 10.

Question 11b clearly asks about alzheimers.

You conveniently left out the rest of the application.
