33 Gun Purchases - No Red Flags

I don't see anything wrong with flagging multiple gun purchases and police doing more research. There is nothing in the 2nd amendment saying government can not pass any reasonable regulation. Nothing wrong if the government goes after someone who purchased multiple guns and who also posted on social media how they are going to do x, y and z.

The problem is that it is nearly impossible to pass any reasonable regulation. Liberals will ban this and that, but a mentally ill person can do a lot without guns. It brings up the memory Ted Kazchinsky or Chicago Tylenol murders.

I am not a gun owner but do know my way around firearms. Had a few rifles and a pistol in my younger days.

Gun control laws have been ineffective for many violent crimes, especially where numerous homicides are attributed to one person. Tougher laws won't prevent another Las Vegas, Orlando Pulse, Sandy Hook, San Bernadino, Columbine or any of the other tragedies.

The issue isn't a matter of controling guns.

It is a matter of mental illness.

I don't know if they released how he bought the guns, but a lot of guns are bought and sold privately and are not reported...to anyone. In GA you don't have to, many states are like that. So in that situation there are no flags to be thrown up. The next obstacle people talk about is the Bump that he used...many also don't realize how easy it is to make a semi auto a full auto, I actually don't know how to do it, but I've seen in done...and it took the guy all of 5 seconds to do.

It is a huge tragedy, but if someone is determined to kill people...they are going to do it. UK has much tighter gun laws than the US, from my understanding...look at what's being done in London with running people over. These idiots keep getting media coverage, rightly so, but the negative is that it makes the next *** feel that they will be remembered too. It a shame in this 15 minutes of fame society that this is how people choose to seek attention.

The scary thought is the what next...ultimately...you want the good guys to have guns...and they are the ones who most of the "gun control" lobbyist would be hurting. The church in SC a few years ago where a parishioner killed a would be attacker at the door, the school where a crossing guard disarmed an attacker etc... But what do I know...I just like guns.

Actually it's a matter of 58 innocent victims and public safety.

The argument that gun control laws don't work is not true. Other countries have instituted gun control laws and homicides and suicides decreased dramatically.

In America we live in a country of states with ranging gun laws. Indiana and Illinois is a great example. The majority of the guns on the streets of Chicago can be traced to out of state purchases, mostly Indiana. In New Jersey and New York the guns come up the I-95 pipeline from states like South Carolina. Failure to understand the interconnectedness of th states is what makes state guns laws ineffective only floods the system with greater misinformation and only serves to further a false narrative of "there's nothing we can do."

The truth is there are too many guns in this country. That is the problem. Anyone can get one no matter if they are mentally ill or a criminal or even a terrorist.

With guns everywhere guns become a solution for everything. Why do you guys think police and soldiers are more likely to commit suicide? Because they are constantly around guns. Why do you think homes with guns are more likely to have a person who lives there die of a gun shot? Because they are around guns.

The point is by lessening the total number of guns we will lower the misuse of guns.

Yes, the issue is mental illness. So this person was on Valium and he started accumulating guns. So if we had a registry that tracked gun purchases by person and could access the prescription database, he would have been flagged. Mentally ill people should not have unlimited access to guns. Had he tried to become a pilot, we have checks to question him. Try buy life insurance, he would have been asked questions. Buy 70 guns, no problem.

LEO and military commit suicide because they are around guns?!?

Has nothing to do with the thing they have lived?

The murders in Chicago murder because they can get guns? Not because of who they are?

Yup, it is the guns.

I think I'm beginning to understand.

Having guns = a disease/plague that can "trigger" (pardon the pun) at any time.

I get it now. Thanks. (ugh)
