I have been the sales manager for an ad agency for 9 years and am now coming into the insurance market. Wanted to say thank you for all of the advice that I have been reading through on the board. Seems like in any industry there is a good forum. This is it. Thanks!

Here is a little return of advice. This is no way a solicitation for business as I don't do advertising for others anymore. There is going to be a recommendation in the post...it is not an affiliate link or anything.

This advice is on phone call tracking from your advertising. This is how we have always done it for our ad agency and for all of our "small business clients", like insurance agents. It works and it is worth the little extra money.

We set up a Vonage account for $25. Add a 800# for another $5 and then we setup what they call virtual numbers for $5 each for every ad campaign that we run. So if you have radio, tv, 2 mailers, 3 internet landing pages, 1 blog, and a vinyl sign on your vehicle. So you would have a total of 9 virtual numbers and an 800 number. This is $75 a month plus tax. You can cancel and add new virtual numbers at any time.

Each number is forwarded to your cell phone or business line and nobody knows the difference. You can log on and see the number of calls on each virtual number in almost real time.

The dollar amount you spend on advertising that DOESN'T work can be decreased tremendously and now you will know exactly what works and what doesn't.
