Aetna, Cigna Game Plan

Does anybody have any idea when the sanction on Aetna will be lifted?

At this point and based upon the way Aetna is supporting the reform, they may not want to go back into business.

I absolutely refuse to sell them. They have screwed the public by leaving the IFP business in the past, have a plan that they promote as a PPO but has a very deceptive network (and just because they call it an MC plan doesn't help), and now have gone well out of their way to drop commissions to the point that any agent that uses them deserves to have a pineapple shoved up their ass.

By the way, Anthem Blue Cross was sanctioned two years ago.

Yes, BCBSGA did last year or was it the year before? It was one of the two. Coventry hasn't. Just this year, we've had Universal American (Today's Options), HealthNet and Arcadian. And Aetna continues to be under sanctions which began in February of this year.

While Cigna hasn't had any sanctions, it appears they are done with the MA business with the exception of Arizona. They continue with Part D nationwide.

FWIW

Coventry had some issues back in 2007 with CMS....don't forget Wellcare, they've been slapped around some.....Our BCBX here in SC will probably get a heavy CMS audit in the Spring IMHO simply due to the volume of business they are doing now.....Universal Healthcare in FL got shut down for awhile their first year, but I believe that was reserve issue initiated by the FL DOI if memory serves me correct....Wellpoint got sanctioned last year too, I believe...

Outside of the terse words that Humana got form HHS for the HCR mailings, I don't recall the big H ever having much CMS trouble.....or United for that matter......
