American Cars and Meeting Clients

How do you feel about American Car producers making a profit overseas and coming back to America?

Since Newby didn't say it, I will.

They aren't sending profits back. Ask Apple. Apple has billions overseas, Ireland being one of those places. They don't want to bring it back because they will have to pay taxes on it.

Here is how perverse it is. Apple is borrowing billions so they can buy back shares to prop up the share price. All in the hope that they will get another tax holiday sometime soon so they can on-shore those billions at a lower tax rate. Until that happens, they will continue to let those billions sit overseas and borrow other billions to do share buybacks.

So is an Ipad an American product?

I do not know what you expect to learn from this forum. You lost a big sale.

I got in trouble for buying a FORD Ranger years ago. Father in law is retired GM. ha. I get a discount so the cars are both GM. I have good friends working the Jap plants so I don't care what anyone buys. It's a global economy. It's all good! I would hate for the USA not to be able to sell it's products and services abroad because they wanted to only buy from their country. Goes both ways. That being said I do try to buy American when I can.

News flash, we already are. Our biggest exports are agriculture and ideas. Many countries ban our agriculture products for various reasons, and China just steals our software, entertainment, etc.

Boeing wants to sell planes to Japanese airlines, so they got strong armed into having parts built in Japan.

But back to the OP, if someone cares what car you drive to an appointment, they would have found something else to complain about.

Thank goodness for Toyota.. My son, daughter and son-in-law are e,ployed by Denso America making sensors primarily for American Toyota (even though they do also supply other companies including Ford) At one time many people around here were struggling to find employment because all the "American" companies located here moved their plants to Mexico and Asia.. You can argue that the American people have not been loyal to American Companies but neither have the American companies been loyal to the American people.

My last car was 100% built in America. It's a BMW Z3. Beautiful car. German know-how and American labor.

The good thing about my wife's Lexus is that an American made a commission by selling it to the original owner.

This might sound like it does not belong in this forum, but just follow me. My wife and I have a butcher in southern Ohio. He supplies organic beef for her restaurant.

Well, I rolled up for my appointment in my 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Everyone there seems to have a Chevy or Ford. One of the brothers met me in the drive way and told me, "Get that God D*mn Jap car out of here and don't come back." I was stunned.

Any input is welcome.

I do hope you found another supplier and told him where he could put his beef.
