American Cars and Meeting Clients

I have not had someone run me off like that. However, I have felt that I was shut down due to race. Sometimes it just is what it is. Make another run at him. If it works great. Not sure how a German car is different than a Japanese car though.

I drove a Cadillac for years and never felt it was to flashy. I came into this business from construction and was was driving a Ford Pickup. That was the least "insurance agent" vehicle I have driven and I did OK. But the Caddy was much more professional. IMHO.

Living in small town/rural south a whole lot of folks have pickups.. Never felt anyone was turned off by my Ford Sportrac.. If they are, so be it 'cause I like driving the thing. Besides, I might pick up a few antiques along the way and need something to haul them in.

That is how I feel about my foreign car, as well as my GM crossover or Suburban. Heck, showed up to an FE sale in a chauffeured convertible BMW last week. Did not make a lick of difference. Could have been a Crown Victoria or Honda Civic.

OK, it was Rick's car. But it sounded cool. :nah:

Jd has a right to buy what ever he wants but when he makes a statement suggesting a GM if more reliable than a rice burner. He deserves to be called out on it. Nobody but a hermit or a deaf dumb and blind man could believe that in this day and age. Or maybe a crotchety ole fart!

I live in Mid Michigan and for about the past 4 years drove a GMC PU for work but it just kills my back. Over the past 3 months I have been driving my girlfriends 93 Lexus SC400 and I have not heard one derogatory comment. It looks like a new car and I get comments on how cool it looks all the time. It is one of the best built cars of all time.

In the late 90's It was either car and Driver or Motor Trend, and it doesn't''t matter cuz I hate em both, had an article and they asked 5 professional drivers if you could spend up to a hundred grand and buy one car to drive full time what would it be. 3 chose an SC400 and the other two chose a 911.

On Thursday I was working in a trailer park and I drove by a parked truck with a bumper sticker in the window that said Drive an American Car if you have an American job. After my appointment was over I pulled right in front of his trailer and stopped and goggled my next appointment and he came up to the car and asked me if I needed anything. I said no and he said no problem and as he walked away he said Nice Car.

Once upon a time, most football players came from Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. As we have evolved, they now come from Florida, Texas and California.

As a boy, I remember my mom saying, "there is nothing so constant as change."
Never more true.

But he couldn't peel the smile off his face when he took a short ride in my German car.

You didn't let him drive?

Trying to remember the last POS American car I had. Probably an 89 Bonneville. Burned out half a dozen alternators and at least 2 AC compressors. Finally sold it when the electrical system went haywire and the power seats and windows only worked when they wanted to.

I have had Volvo's, BMW's and Nissan's since. Nissan was the best of the bunch but the BMW was a total kicka$$ thrill to drive.

You were a customer up to that point...Now viewed as a salesman that he can reject or accept.

Very true. I guess I will find out on Monday.

My brother-in-law has a 750il X. That thing handles better than any car I have ever driven. An ex gf from a long time ago had a 5 series and it handled great as well. Maybe there is something to the 50/50 weight balancing that BMW claims.

I have a 740il and have had it for 12 years. Great driving car but it is real hard keeping it out of the shop. The window sticker in 98 was $89,000. For that kind of money one would think it would be more reliable.

I'll be meeting with a couple of prospects, not for FE but for MA plans. They just moved to So Cal so both have an SEP.

I will be using an American vehicle to see them, probably the most reliable available. A Cessna 172.

Now I understand your approach you fly in and have them hop in the plane. Then you take off and mention to them your skill on landing is dependent on two things....Passenger A and Passenger B signing said paperwork...When they bauk you show them the parachute you are sitting on.
