Hey guys. I just got set up with Am Con and am curious how they are to work with. I can see where they could become a valuable tool but want to make sure I'm not getting involved with Forethought or Monumental-esque issues. So if you have any experience with these guys please let me know how you feel about them. Do they have a rate sweet spot or UW advantage over others?

I saw in their guide that on the cover page of the policy it shows them in ALL CAPS when they will pay more into the policy than the death benefit. Has that ever killed a sale for you? Seems pretty strange that they would put that on the front page next to the free look reminder.

Thanks for your help.

They are decent except customer service. Thirty minutes wait everytime you call. Agent support there is never a wait. Nor is there for a phone interview. Niche is no mib no build chart and smokers are cheaper than most. Younger ages are more expensive. Around 65-70 and up they are always very competitive. Diabetes and heart trouble is the only real issue with underwriting. No rx check either.

They are one piece of the carrier puzzle. They are great for certain cases and horrible for others. Same as ForeThought, monumental and all companies.

I like their Med Sups especially well. Rates are traditionally pretty stable and competitive. They don't kill your commission over age or GI status.

Good company to have.

Don't sell Am Con as Am Con. Sell it as Aetna. Aetna is one of the largest health care providers in the U.S. Most people wil have had them at some point or if not they will know someone who has. They have group health plans in schools, factories ect. Just say "One of my favorite companies to work with is Aetna, you have heard of them, right?"

I always use the Aetna name when I sense someone may have trust issues or they seemed turned off when I pull out a company they ahve not heard of. I just say "If your more comforatble with a bigger name/more well known company I ahve Aetna." Then sometimes I say "It may costs a dollar or two more per month but I am here to help you make these decsions easier for you. I want you to be comfortable with your choices"

Their other underwriting company, Continental Life, is my main go to med supp carrier. I sell it as Aetna, reference CLI as the UW company. It only becomes confusing when prospect has already done rate research and found Aetna's higher rate offered without ACI or CLI. Just takes a little more explaining. Also important to tell client that check draft will be ACI or CLI on bank statement. I tell clients at POS and by follow-up letter and still get calls.

They are making a big push for market share in some states. Lowered rates, new household discount, and a bonus of up to $35 per app 7/15 to 9/15.

They are my favorite company to work with for FE and for med sups.

Their rates are too high to be my go to company but, if that were to change then I would move them into the number 1 spot.

As for the name, I sell it as AmCon and then tell people they are owned by Aetna. My clients don't ever seem to be into the names of the companies. They have never heard of RNA, Americo, etc. either before they talk to me.

On the FE side diabetes is just about a no go with them if on insulin. I don't like having to do the phone interview but it's short and sweet and they give you policy number at the end of the call.

That other page you mentioned could be an issue if you have the company send the policy direct to the client. I deliver mine and go over the policy upon delivery so it's a non issue to me.

I don't market med supps anymore but have placed 4 med supps with them over the last month or so. Great rates in Virginia, and their website makes it easy to follow application processing.

They're good for the older ages and As I just found out, people with seizures/epilepsy. Honestly, when someone pulls out their scripts and they have 10 or more, I naturally start to lean to 5 star or AmCon. The no script check is huge IMO.
