Another Feature of Obamacare

Re: Another Feature of Obamacrap

My math isn't great (Just ask Tater) but $220 X 4 doesn't equal $1200. Why the additional hold back?

Re: Another Feature of Obamacrap

And the elephant in the room............ if he had $0 income and no job from Jan - Apr, why did you project his income to be in the 138-150% range? Did you plan on him following daddy's career path in the fast food industry? :D

Looks like the actual price was closer to $230 with a $138 subsidy - or something close to that. Not sure if the math is the important point. The point I was making is that even playing by their rules makes no sense.

We need to get rid of this terrible law, passed illegally by the Democraps and changed illegally by our emperor in chief.

Well that makes things clear as mud. Getting rid of this crap....I couldn't agree more.

Re: Another Feature of Obamacrap

Not that I want to pick a fight with you, Greensky, but let me play the Debil's advocate. I would think that someone opposed to Obamacare would be happy that the government processed this so well.

* A man applies for a 94% CSR with large subsidy
* By manipulating the numbers so his $0 income looks like 138% to 150%
* In month 5, he gets a good paying job
* And the IRS swoops down and takes their money back.

The only thing wrong with that picture is that it happened to your son.

The only thing wrong is that if he qualified for Medicaid there would be zero clawback. And keep in mind, his OLD plan was less expensive than even the subsidized price and cost the taxpayers exactly, wait for it.....ZERO.

This is not the reason I hate Obamacrap and compared to everything else, pretty trivial.

The solution? Medicaid should have a price attached to it, and should also be subject to the clawback. And not when the estate is settled.

Because in addition to all of the many problems with all of this mess: you cannot get a policy canceled either: that is when you 'want' to. It takes months after a person terminates the policy for the subsidies to stop paying. The insurance companies continue to get subsidies sometimes for many months. I've seen it happen with many of my clients. It very well could equal $1200 subsidy that was paid to the insurance company.

What else can be messed up? Inquiring minds want to know. MP cannot seem to get one thing right. Messiest mess I've ever seen.

I agree that the unfair playing field between Medicaid and Subsidy is, well, unfair. Also, I totally agree that allowing him to keep his old plan would have been far better. When the old plan is cheaper than the subsidized price of a 94% CSR, something's wrong.

Good point.
