I have a nice Blue Cross book of biz in CA. Next year I will move to Arizona. Do any health agents see any issue in doing insurance in AZ and CA. Plan on having my CA license turn to non-residence license.

Had many agents ask me to buy my Blue Cross book. I decided not to sell it. It so easy to maintain and the renewal are very steady.

Probably half of the AZ agents here have CA licenses, too. AZ has few requirements for out-of-state licensing, except some CE credits. Lots of AZ companies have employees or divisions in CA, so it's nice to be licensed in both states.

AZ commissions have always been lower than most of the country. Before the MLR rules caused commission cuts in early 2011, our individual/family commission rates were 10% level for BCBSAZ, Cigna and Health Net, and about 20% FY / 5% renewal for other carriers. With the commission cuts we're still lower than most of the nation, but not by as wide of a margin. Our group commissions are lower than most of the rest of the country, too.

What area of AZ are you moving to? If you need any guidance, I and Yagents are both headquartered in the Phoenix area and we could help. PS - I don't (and I think Yagents doesn't) use subcontracted agents, so any help we give you isn't intended to pad our own pockets.

Good luck.

I don't do group, I don't do agents, and I don't do Cali.....I'm useless to you.

I am not that interested in group insurance. More like individuals. I have a few groups on the book. But lost 4 in the last few years to business failing. :swoon:

Maybe I'm not too useless. If you want the lowdown on IFP in AZ, feel free to call me 928 252 2493.
