I am looking to work with a reliable carrier for Final Expense, I've heard that liberty bankers life is a very popular one to use, any other recommendations?

Yes!

easy to use e- application
Preferred, standard and modified plan
Many health conditions covered preferred or standard.
Top comp, good renewals, and decent agent incentives.

They never give you that 10%.
It's been several years ago now, but I've had the reserve funds released before.

At that time I had not written a FE contract with them for quite awhile. There were no contracts left that could be charged back or rescinded. I had shifted focus to the Home Service side, and didn't anticipate writing any bank drafted FE in the foreseeable future. So I requested the funds be released. I had to make the request to the IMO, as the home office told me they couldn't release the funds unless the IMO directed them to do so.

That policy may have changed, but I don't see why they would need to retain those funds if an agent cancels his contract for some reason (e.g., gets out of the business), as long as enough time is allowed for the potential CB's to filter out.

BTW, I write both FE and Home Service policies with them nowadays. I've also written Critical Illness, MedSupp, and Preneed through other divisions of the company. The home office is local to me, and I've gotten to know several of the execs and support staff over there. They've become my go-to for both Home Service and FE. Overall, it's just a really nice company to work with. I realize they're not the best for some of the niches, but they've been great as a core carrier.
