Anyone in So Cal?

I am new to the FE side of insurance and I'm just starting out and I need all the guidance, support, and camaraderie I can get from experienced folks out there. Anyone doing this in LA area?

Im in LA, but mostly sell out in the IE area....Im out there 65% of the time! LA has pockets of good zips for FE, Im on the westside, not a great area for FE. U need to find lower middle class areas or upper lower class areas. Not so poor, they barely eating, but only 1 or 2 classes above that.

Some other here say their market is the poorest of the poor, but Ive found that not to be the case for me...I go to a lot of mobile home parks, but Ive never been to the projects & dont plan on it!!

Hey TDF;

Thanks for your reply. I sent you a pm before I started this thread. What's IE?
You're in the westside and I'm in the san fernando valley. I tried starting out by door knocking locally in my neighborhood, but it's so damn hot, I can't do it, plus it isn't efficient.

I totally agree with you on zips in LA. Man, I bought a dialer deal and they gave me a list of 5000 people to cold call in LA county. I asked them to give me a list of people within certain zips, income, age, but they said they can only do a county and not by individual zips. I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. Now, I've already made around 500 calls and almost all of them were either habla Espanol, or Korean :))). I'm trying not to get discouraged here, but it's tough going for a newby and I need all the motivation I can get.

Where, from whom did you get the training/mentoring TDF?

I used to live in the SF Valley (before I was in insurance), they have a lot of good areas for FE. Its hot, just like the IE (Inland Empire- basically SB & Riverside counties). In Socal, selling you list of names by county wont work, u need a place that can narrow it to zips or try another method.

Try going under and IMO like EFES or Securus for training, leads & support....there's plenty of threads on them in this forum. See what works best for you!

Call Lincoln Heritage. They have the best fe program going in California.

Good luck with it fretfrek, I too am starting and I am seriously looking into taking TDFnCali's advice with EFES. It's tough to start especially if your doing it part time like me, but it sounds like your in it full time. Best of luck to you!!

Yep, I simply had no choice. I was laid off so I decided to work for myself rather than working for peanuts for someone else.

That is the same reason I am going to move forward with EFES. My job will disappear next march. I think it's a blessing in disguise

Its kinda hard to do EFES on a part time basis....but its also a luxury to learn this biz slowly while u still have other income. I would buy old leads & learn with them....they wont last u til next march so at some point u will have to buy some new leads, mailers or otherwise.

Experiment a lil with diff types, since u have time before u are full time....maybe try your own mailers, cold calling, etc. I have a source for decent tele leads too if ud like. If u go with EFES, get under 1 of their top managers like Travis or Shannon (my manager) or I hear Joe is good too.

Good Luck!
