It would be great if someone could point me to a solid lead source. I am willing to spend up to $15 per FE lead. As a newb, that's the most risk I'm willing to take on leads now.

Find a mentor and offer them 50% and do as they do.
Its kinda hard to do EFES on a part time basis....but its also a luxury to learn this biz slowly while u still have other income. I would buy old leads & learn with them....they wont last u til next march so at some point u will have to buy some new leads, mailers or otherwise.
Experiment a lil with diff types, since u have time before u are full time....maybe try your own mailers, cold calling, etc. I have a source for decent tele leads too if ud like. If u go with EFES, get under 1 of their top managers like Travis or Shannon (my manager) or I hear Joe is good too.
Good Luck!

Call Lincoln Heritage. They have the best fe program going in California.
JD. For you to state LH does not have a great opportunity for agents in California is ridiculous. I like the post earlier that you made about LH and how you would run it. It proves you are one of the could've would've should've type agents. If you were as good as you claim to be you would have your own insurance company. Let's see JDS track record or LHs track record.
Enough Said
Go get em JD
