Anyone work with Senior Life doing telesales?

Today I had a nice conversation with Greg (@theinsuranceman), and not only is he very knowledgeable about telesales, more importantly, he has years of productive experience.

Now more than ever, it's a necessary skill, and Greg can get you up and running fairly quickly.
Did he tell you that your commission schedule was conditional?

Conditional on you making sales.
An 80% contract is conditioned upon whether the client accepts and pays an additional $4 per month for a VAP. Unless the client accepts this non-insurance product, the agent's commission is 60% on the insurance policy he sold.
In addition, if the client's only method of payment is credit card, the agent's commission drops further to 30%. All this assumes the client qualifies for Super Preferred class. God forbid if he doesn't. The agent literally becomes a Social Worker, he's paid so little. For those reasons, your contract is CONDITIONAL

Wow that is really really bad.

What a joke. The standard rate which most people probably get pays 15% on credit card. Few can make a living after lead costs and chargebacks with those commissions .

Not only that, but the captive SL agents have to sell graded or modified to some that can otherwise get 1st day coverage. That makes the premium much higher for the client, especially because SL is very expensive at that point.

So, the commissions aren't good for the agent and many times what they have to sell to the client isn't good for the client. At that point, any savings on the funeral later on would be dwarfed by the difference in the face amount lost.
