Arthritis and health insurance

Thanks for the info. She is not being offered Cobra and thus no HIPAA benefit. I called several carriers and they all said no chance of coverage with the JRA.

Um, HIPAA eligibility is predicated on loss of employer sponsored group coverage, not on COBRA or mini-COBRA. As long as she has been insured 18 or more months continously with no break in coverage greater than 63 days during that 18 months, she is eligible for HIPAA. If the employer drops coverage, as long as she has 18 months, she would be able to buy a HIPAA plan since she has "exhausted" all employer sponsored coverage.
