BACON IS FOR CLOSERS...

"100 calories of cookies, is far more fattening than 100 calories of salmon, despite what all the obesity 'experts' claim."

That is what is difficult for many to accept as it seems counter-intuitive. There is an excellent book call Good Calorie, Bad Calorie by Gary Taubes that goes into the history of how we went from being as smart as Barney Fife to being as dumb as Jimmy Carter when it comes to nutrition (to be fair, Carter really wasn't to blame, but the first US guidelines were issued during his administration, so being a good American, I blame the President for everything :D A less dense, more readily accessible account of essentially the same stroy can be found in his book Why We Get Fat and What to Do About It

Thank You

Even though I try and eat healthily there are a lot of carbs in my diet, Things like whole wheat bread and wraps, Black beans and many other things,

I have been counting calories and make ground I lose ground have been doing so for years and been getting soo frustrated

Then I noticed what you said in the other thread the other day, I am going to try the low carb way within a week once I get through my carb stuff that I have in the house, next food shopping will be low carb in mind

They have LOW carb wraps now that aren't bad. Cut down on the carbs and sugar. You'll lose weight and gain energy. If I eat too many carbs, I can feel it in the evening.

I really think that is the issue I try to eat healthy, But what happens Is I feel sluggish even when I do well, Then I eat more because I need energy, then I gain and get discouraged then I eat more

Eat meat, drink water would be the ideal summary. For me it is Eat Meat, drink water, and coffee with heavy cream, no sweeteners.

Meat should be minimally processed (no hot dogs or hot dog like sausages, lunch meats etc).

Cheese and other dairy should be minimized if weight loss is a goal.

Nuts and seeds are permitted in limited quantities (watch the carb count) but again, if weight loss is the goal, then nuts and seeds should be avoided until you reach your goal weight.

I also tend to only eat once or twice a day once I get adapted to the low carb/zero carb WOE.

Eat when hungry, not because the clock says it is time for breakfast or lunch or dinner.

No sugars, and no starches (flour, potatoes, rice, beans, corn, oatmeal and other cereals, etc.)

I will not be eating any veggies until I accomplish my goal, but any non-starchy veggie is on the table: leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, onions, garlic, etc. Mushrooms are also fine for those who are into fungi. The king (or queen) of plant foods for this WOE is the avocado, imo. It is low carb and full of healthy fat.

The way we Closers did it was ZERO carbs - just meat only for 30 days, and then re-introduce non-starchy veggies SLOWLY. Everyone will have a different level of tolerance for carbohydrate.

Just be aware that the first three days can be rough - headaches and lethargy as your brain and muscles learn to live off protein and fat rather than sugar. After that, your energy levels should steadily increase.

The inspiration for this was the Bacon Diet. I read about thuis guy who ate bacon only for thirty days and he has incredible results. I did bacon, beef, pork, chicken, fish ... but all meat. No sugars, no starches, nothing from plants. I did continue to drink coffee with heavy cream - no sweetener. Also, it is best to give up all sweet tastes - even diet sodas, etc. The goal is to break the sugar cravings and let your body recover its natural ability to move energy freely between fat tissue and the blood.

Man that's hared core, I think I will be around 50 at first mainly because I will need to figure out what meats and how I will prepare to have around at all times at first I think I will end up with salads for lunch till I fix that problem, After the first week I should have that settled and I think I can be under 20 but I can't see doing 0 carbs that is maybe too hardcore for me

Maybe over the summer when I can barbeque a lot
