BACON IS FOR CLOSERS...

Ha! I do 6 weeks of keto every spring. It really helps me take off that winter weight pretty quickly for the summer. I'm getting older but not ready to go full "dad-bod" just yet!
Arnold Schwarzenegger said cutting out bread helped him lose weight, but dietitians say a calorie deficit is more important than banning carbs

Some people find it easy to overeat bread, so cutting it out helps them hit their calorie deficit."You can technically cut out any calorie containing food to lose weight," Dr. Spencer Nadolsky, a cardio-metabolic medicine physician specializing in obesity and lipidology, told Insider. "If bread is something Arnold feels he overindulges in and has a tough time controlling, then cutting it out may be helpful, but it's not magic."

The point of keto is not just to cut calories. It is to restrict carbs in order to induce ketosis in the body. Ketosis is a chemical process within your body that burns fat at a much quicker pace than normal calorie restricted diets.

The catch, is it isnt something you want to do long term.

Its similar to atkins in a lot of ways. Initial phase of atkins induces ketosis. Then you slowly progress out of it once you hit phase 3 I think it is.

I did keto a few weeks back and dropped 15 pounds over a few weeks like it was nothing. Yeah, it will come back if I eat like sh*t and dont keep up with exercise... but if I did that anyway I would be even worse than before... so its a moot point.

Keto is a great way to get to a "base line" weight to maintain moving forward with healthy diet and regular exercise. Assuming you dont have a ton of it to lose. 6 weeks would certainly be my limit, 4 was enough for me! But it did help me eliminate my sweet tea problem. A lot of the better eating habits stayed with me. Especially the bacon!

My biggest struggle is breakfast. I'm not a fan of eggs, unless it's an omelette with toast and potatoes. I LOVE French toast or pancakes once a weel, but usually I eat oatmeal with fruit or yogure with fruit.

There are plenty o smoothie type recipes even protein ones

I sometimes will make an iced bullet prof coffee to get through the morning or when I get into 16/8 or 18/6 fasting I skip breakfast actually I like eggs so I may have breakfast for lunch

Lots of things you can do

Do you hate eggs altogether my wife doesn't like too many eggs but she will eat the cups she makes with egg broccoli cheddar

we also have keto pancake mix and there are also recipes for french toast waffles

Check out Chaffel recipes

While its not necessary certainly many use keto as you do very successfully but there is no reason it can be used long term

I have been on it a year and a half and will be on it fully for about another year from there I will transition to low carb

But many stays on it for health issue for life helped many hard core diabetics

Smoke a little meth in the morning so you're not hungry until the afternoon.

My diet book hits the shelves this summer.

Excellent point. I should have said it just had to be a lot more "balanced" over the long term.

I can "crash keto" over a few weeks and binge on primarily bacon, bbq, veggies, & atkins smoothies and drop 10-20lbs to be back at target weight. Im guessing your long term diet is a bit more balanced than that! lol

I def have some veggies Romain lettuce, peppers, some tomato avocado use almond flour coconut flour

And the biggest thing I discovered was meat is much healthier than I had known and veggies are less healthy than I thought

Man I thought veggies were just full of vitamins I wound though when checking out serving sizes often have small amounts of vitamins in many veggies with the exception of something like C and such

many things you can do with chicken beef and pork got lots of Chinese mex recipes all types of stuff

but I can be fine having BBQ every day during the summer steaks, burgers all kinds of chicken

Pluss Seafood, I try and have some clams or muscles or oysters once a week because loaded with vitamins

lots of shrimp recipees

Plenty of fish to eat
