BCBS FL Reform Call

It is not an upgrade. They policies would cease and they would have to move. They could go to any company.

I'm getting word that you may be right. Anybody have this in writing from CMS/HHS that this scenario creates an SEP.

Even then, it's only the middle market that will need this SEP.

Lower income - will buy subsidized coverage Jan 1 to lower price
higher income - better move before Dec 31st 13' to those companies offering renewal until 12/14'.
Middle income - subsidized price is higher than current Blue price, then move to exchange at july renewal.

Hardly anything is in writing. All of this is starting to become comical.

As I understand it, a lot of this could have been released and retooled as far back as 18 months ago, but the administration didn't want all of these unpopular rules to be released due to something else they felt was more important last year...now if I could only remember what big event was going on in the administration a year ago....

It is amazing how something so huge is about to be implemented with so little in place. I certainly hope that it does not implode, but if it does you really can't blame Bush this time. :D

It's like a huge jumbo jet racing down the runway in a thick fog. The lack of clear guidance (until the last minute) is infuriating.

Don't know if Blue has seen the nice little mailer they sent out late last week that started hitting your's and my clients this week, but seems they want the agent to be so much of a part of this thing that they forgot to mention to call your agent or agency and instead wants them to visit your blue store or call a corporate number to find out if you will qualify for subsidy in Oct. Can't wait for the face to face seminar's to start next month. Gona be a lot of pissed off agents at them.

So much for loyalty, that's just wrong. I think it might be a blues strategy to cut out the agent eventually, as AZ blues always had "contact your agent/broker" on all pieces, but haven't seen it in recent mailings or TV

I was at a high level meeting last week and I was told that even if Blue Cross writes the business on a current client that the AOR will stay with the original agent and so will the commission. I was also told that Blue will be doing mailings to all clients and that they will have the CGA who wrote it on the mailing and the phone number. I have been around Blue Cross for a very long time and I believe that is the plan.

Don't doubt what you've been told, the person who received the mailing yesterday is someone I wrote and she brought the piece to me and no where on that piece was my agency name or phone number. Now I have been told on one's turning 65 and the current mailing's they are sending without an app inside the RPPO brochure and coming off group will remain with the writing agent, but nothing else. I know in your position you sit in on these meetings but in 16 years what has been said and what happens, quite a few times have been different. My thinking is they expedited opening blue stores for one reason and that is to replace us.

I believe the piece I am referring to is in a recent asib.
