BCBSNC - No More Family Plans

If you have a child in NC, can you add him or her to the policy within 30 days, no questions asked? I know that is the case here in TN. It seems that would mess up their individual only design.

Not really.

Newborns and newly adopted children could still be issued a separate policy and there is no difference vs the current practice.

I spoke to a few agencies that represent BCBSNC and they haven't heard anything about them going all individual with no family plans.

Can we please clarify this info?

In addition to no family plans on BC, here in SC, I have been told to expect that for GI (aka unhealthy/formerly uninsurable) children that we should expect the rate up to be the same as the cost for the state pool, or perhaps a little higher.

I wonder how long HHS will let this slide?

Raise your hands: Who really wants Sebelius to 'clamp down' on you? She is maybe only one or two steps above Elana Kagan.
