Broker's Advocate at White House:

As usual, our liberal friend is wrong. Nobody is ridiculing anyone.

It's just that assuming an appointee by the most left wing administration in history will care about a small business person - agents.

And Google was right. I ran for insurance commissioner of CA. Finished 3rd with 370K votes.

Call it as you see it. I call it as I see it.

If it walks like duck and quacks like a duck...

You've heard about what happens when you "assume."

That's quite good and very commendable. You might have done better if you had a lot more money and were a bit more likable.

We shall see what we shall see. I just talked to the person that called me this morning. I have always been able to do something about problems throughout my almost 30 years in the insurance industry. And if nothing comes of it: I will at least give it my best shot .... with or without you.

See if you can get Scott and White to let go of our commissions. Or answer the phone. Or emails. Any of those would be helpful....

See what you can see yourself: do not give up or give in. Just try! We all have to keep on keeping on. Send massive amounts of emails until you are heard. We have to be heard! I did not send one email: I sent multitudes of emails and felt like I was talking to a brick wall. We are people. We are not robo world. Do not lay down and die.

"Decisions are made by those who show up" - Aaron Sorkin

If you want government to care about agent issues you need to get involved... write letters, make calls, work on a campaign, go to meetings, maybe even run for office like Rick did (according to Google)... but do something... instead of beating up on someone like Mary, who IS doing something.

I believe that the C-level execs at Anthem and Aetna and other health carriers who cut comp to almost nothing sit in their boardrooms and brag "We can do what we want because we not only 'own' the legislatures, those agents are so stupid that we could probably make THEM pay US to sell our products!"

From reading posts here for over a year I know health agents are dead-set against unions. But think of the power you'd have if you were as organized as the West coast dockworkers are?

There is (political/economic) strength in organization and in numbers.

But most agents are just too old (and too conservative) to get it.

Agents are a 'herd' of domestic cats but they'd be better served and better off if they were a herd of stampeding buffalo!

Probably will not happen, sadly, because agents (here) look at the Mary's (and the Ricks) of the industry who try to do something positive, and just ridicule them.

"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves, that we are underlings."

-Shakespeare, Julius Caesar (Act I, Scene 2)

Thank you so much: you are so right! When did we all get all about begging to be valued? We are not underlings. We need to be valued ... and we are not! I will never give up and nor should you: please get a backbone people!

Good luck! I wrote the White House beginning of November when my carriers dropped mass cancellation notices for old plans and I had to deliver the bad news to my self employed who don't qualify for subsidies, that their only options were double or triple the price for lousy coverage. I asked them what they would say to these people---how could I make them feel good about this law that wS screwing them? I then threatened to advise they all vote republican from here on out.

My letter was passed to HHS and a gal from there with a title of "director of ACA OUTREACH" called me. She gave me the corporate "non-speak". When I asked for specifics on what they were doing to make adjustments to relieve the sin points in this law SHE HUNG UP ON ME!! Soon . . . They don't care. You're wasting your time.

Try again: back up, circle around, go for a different approach, and try again. Do not give up. Never give up. They did not hear you, understand you. Just try again.

they heard me. Forget it. I've written letters to politicians on this since 2009. No more time. Have to do business planning and figure out how to pivot and save my income. I'm not Norma Rae .
