First post in a very interesting board.

Last year I enrolled about 10 folks in the CIP plans. Then they went through some changes or something, but I didn't respond to the re-cert request since they jacked up the premiums so quick. I still have those clients and since I'm not appointed I'm having a hard time getting an idea of what the 2009 benefits will be like. I'd like to know ahead of time so I can best advise my clients.

Does anyone have a link to updated benefits? I've checked the lame CIP site, but it hasn't been updated since 2007.

Thanks

Gordon

Mr. Liddy, (sorry, I couldn't resist)

I am taking their certification course over the weekend, and will have that information then. If noone has forwarded the information to you by then, I will.

They have had a little problem getting their act together, having postponed "credentialling" a couple of times. I, too, am about to re-certify (or as they call it "get credentialed").

I viewed a webinar yesterday on their 2009 products and it doesn't appear that much has changed.... but I am not speaking of $$, just basic plan info and eligibility.

My point is, you will be among the rest of us if you apply now for this next year's appointment, because we are all in the same boat.

Go to medicare.gov and look up the plans in your area. CIP has done away with the 5th tier $0 drugs on all but the top plan of the Gold and Platinum raised premums by 100% and lowered benefits. The Platinum Premier Plus is $354 in my area.

Last year, I enrolled about 300 people in CIP and the enrollees have kept their policies for the most part due to their conditions/coverage areas. Due to CMS guidelines on marketing, I have been calling many of them that are still in the plan. I have also enjoyed receiving the renewals monthly for these as well. However, I have been plugging and tugging at the FMOs and CIP themselves to find out what is taking so long to get everything ready for this years' open enrollment. So far-NOTHING!:nah:

I went to a local roadshow this a.m. and it was reported that all previously approved material had to be re-approved. CIP had already printed up quite a bit of material, and it is gonna cost them bux! Thanks, CMS (knuckleheads!). Not to mention agent commissions for them as well as everyone in the MA business has been taken off the table. CMS had said they would rule by Oct 31st. I guess someone forgot to send them a calendar last Christmas....

Well I've recieved packages and/or phone calls from 3 of the folks I enrolled in this mess. The $58 plan that went to $131 on Jan. 08 is going to $242 1/09. They added copays or co-insurance to just about everything that was $0 out of pocket.

They've all expressed interest in returning to medicare/supplement.

I did a dozen or so a couple years ago. I moved them all in the next AEP/OEP. Nobody had any real problems with them, but the rates have went up every year and now are higher than Med Sups. I hope your clients are in the 12 month window to return to Med Sups without underwriting.
