Cold Doors 2020 - Discussion Thread

^thats cool. I posted my experience (and frustration) with traffic violations (especially while door knocking) so I highly doubt anyone on this forum is free of any traffic violations so there's that.

Anyhow I'm wonder if the door knocking people are going to be out today?

I've had violations, but they were MY fault....NOT the cop who was enforcing the law.
I'll be out today..................standing in line for some edibles.

I get it goillini - I'm not saying I'm a perfect driver. I guess I'm A- now.

however when things are linked to fines, court, and legal issues - then I start to question everything which takes time away from my mission.

My point was I didn't set out to murder anyone or myself - no one was around and no one was harmed. How is that officer speeding through the neighborhood to catch me any different? He could have easily ran over someone's pet or child. He broke the law trying to enforce it.

And the crimes that have victims should take precedence. Instead of having no balls, going for the "low hanging fruit", sitting at corners all day, eating donuts, creating traffic traps for city revenue - they could be out decreasing opioid epidemic/victim crime/violent crime which would boost tourism revenue. But whatever - this is probably a whole nother thread

A client of mine is a retired police officer from Dallas. He was kind of young to be retired, so I asked why? He said he'd been there long enough to retire, but really he was just tired of the BS in the department. He had gotten chewed out for not writing enough traffic citations. He answered that he felt his time was better spent driving up and down the alleys in South Dallas looking for criminal activity and keeping people and their homes safe. His superior said, "Your job is to bring in revenue. Who do you think is paying for our big new headquarters?" So he turned in his badge.

^yeah pretty much how my last corporate job was. A bunch a red tape and politics.

I left that hellhole

I'm debating door knocking today just because it is below freezing here and I need to make sure my mind is right before driving again so I don't risk another police encounter or worse

Almost none of the people who have killed or injured others by running a stop sign "set out to do it"... In fact, those that climb in the car drunk do not "set out" to kill anyone.

Traffic offences often have victims.. Both in personal injury and property damage. In fact, there are more people killed and injured due to traffic offenses than by rapes, murders, robbery.

You are being contradictory. It was ok for you because no one was around but he might have hurt someone?

Wow Drunk driving is way worse (hence jail time etc)

It's levels to the offense and it's seriousness - ex were there victims, were illegal substances involved, intent, etc. Neither of which occurred in this situation so no comparison

I never said accruing traffic violations was okay but I did say that officer broke the law speeding through the neighborhood trying to enforce the law.

So it's interesting you have a problem with people breaking laws EXCEPT when you do it or when law enforcement breaks the law

Anyhow Perhaps a separate thread or back to main topic

The police officers are not bound by the speed limit when pursuing a violator… If they were, they would never catch a speeding motorist. However, I will say that I am not OK with the LO breaking the law. I also am not OK with my violating the law. I have received traffic tickets in the past and have never complained about the officer that gave them to me. They had a job to do and I should not have been speeding even though at times the speed limits in some area seem ridiculous to me.

I wasn't speeding though!!

So him barreling through a neighborhood at 55mph to pull me over was just as reckless as the person he was ticketing.

I can guarantee this was some weirdo overzealous cop relegated to "light duty"

Whatever though I'm not trying to keep thinking about this m-f*cker

Police encounter?
:err: He wrote you a ticket.

Yeah, I would not go out in the cold or heat or rain. That's just not fair. And yeah, best to take a few days off to gather yourself. Besides, if someone yelled at you for disturbing their day off they could set you back even longer.
