Cold Doors 2020 - Discussion Thread

Also with regards to door knocking I am wondering about y'all knuckles

I guess I have thin skin and noticed some bruising. I don't want to do the police knock with my padded part of my fist bc that might scare the daylights out of them but how are y'all keeping from getting bruises, premature arthritis, and ***ing up your joints by constantly doing hefty knocks?

Okay, Sheldon:

I've been around MANY LDS missionaries... and NONE of them complained about the physical impact of knocking on a door on their hands. (They may not like doing the total activity, but the door itself isn't an issue.) Of course, we're not knocking with a "police knock" either.

However, I've heard that you can just use a golf ball in your hand and use that.

Just knock with the butt of your pistol.

It saves your knuckles and as long as the client doesn't look out the window before answering the door, you'll get right in.

Lol that's actually funny but I try to knock louder than that.

And if those dudes never complained that's probably cause they have old grizzly bear hands and/or haven't encountered people with these iron coverings all over their doors.

They're 18 years old... and plenty of women serve too. None of them complained about their hands.

I'm just saying to quit wussing out. Your hands will be fine... unless you already have arthritis or something.

So I had a thought this morning about Facebook. I find myself checking in far too often and when I do I usually find something that aggravates me.

The forum isn't nearly as aggravating lol but I do find myself checking in too often especially during productive hours.

Social media does seem to have some addictive qualities to it. I would bet it would be very difficult to go even a short period of time without checking in. But I would bet productivity would get a huge boost by doing so, i.e. by not checking in to the forum, Facebook.

Any thoughts?

I'll check back (too) soon.

Like anything else, if you do it enough your body becomes accustomed to it. You may even develop calluses on your knuckles.
I do have callouses on my knuckles, so I guess I'll never be a hand model!:laugh:

My first sales manager, who taught me how to doorknock, used a closed pocket knife to knock.

Maybe its different because I am a phone guy not in the field

But to me the forum helps more then it hurts

Yes there are times I could be more productive not on the forum But many times I would either get bored or too negative if I did not have the forum

there are time the forum helps me keep the momentum

Yeah, and it give me an excuse not to be doing something that I should be doing but don't want to do...
