Columbian and Agents Without Morals

I called the state and you fill out forms and then wait and wait and wait. With all the cutbacks in government they suggested they would likely not get to it for months and even then they don't have people to investigate properly.

Foresters really had no interest in dealing with it at all. Of course when you call ther you get fresh kids out of school with really no experiience in dealing with anything like this. After asking 3 times they did get me a supervisor and all he did was say they would give me until the 25th to get them a letter from the client stating he wants to keep the policy.

The client calling the DOI is much more effective than you. To the DOI you are just an agent that is pissed someone else is trying to take your client. For the consumer, there is a higher issue as they have been deceived and lied to from an insurance producer. I sent in 30 pages of crap on an agency that was lying to my clients, which pointed out roughly 8 different producers...nothing done as they said there was no substantial proof. Once the clients sent in the complaints, the DOI actually pressed the issue with the agency.

Don makes an excellent point.

First things first, get that letter for Foresters. Once they confirm that they have reactivated the policy, Have the guy sign a letter rescinding his Columbian policy, and have him state in the letter that he never applied and feels that his signature might have been forged.

If that was the case, there's already bank fraud and insurance fraud committed by this agent.

Other than that, there's nothing else we can tell you to do.

If you know of any attorneys, run this by them...I am sure they are some aggressive attorneys that would love to sue the agent and Company on behalf of the company for Forgery and theft of an insurance policy...I'm sure they could get a nice out of court settlement

I received another email from Foresters today about a differnt policy I sold in GRand Rapids. It was also a deal where I replaced a Columbian policy. That agent was also a Russian guy working ot of Mutual of Detroit. Both of these agents go around collecting cash payments from clients. He convince her to cancel her Foresters level and wsa going to try and get her backinto her origional policy. He badgered her until she finaly gave up and did what he wanted.

I got the lady client right on the phone with Columbian on a three way call and she ripped them a new ahole. We cancelled her Columbian policy back in September. I had replacement forms signed, I called, faxed and wrote a letter asking that the policy be cancelled. We also sent in surrender paapers requesting they send the cash value to the customer yet they never did a thing.

After todays three way call I think they got the message. I received a call from Columbian and the agents district manager. Both were apologetic and promised to keep the agents away from the clients in both cases. We shall see!

I left the car business 18 years ago to get into the mortgage business and remember thinking, it is nice to be in a business where not everybody selling is a crook. That changed because anybody who made money in the car business switched to the mortgage business and then the mortgage business got all corrupct. Then 3 years ago I got into the insurance business and after taking my test and all I thought Great, at least this business requires some resemblence of integrity. Then I start meeting agents from Mutual of Detroit!

I replaced a Columbian policy this week that the agent collected the cash each month. This client was middle class and owned her own business and could qualify fully underwritten but accepted a crappy debit policy.

It's amazing what some people will put up with.

In my origional post where the agent stold the Foresters policy from the client. Today after dealing with Foresters for a half an hour I was told that Foresters received the policy in the mail and just assumed he wanted to cancel it?

Yesterday I was told that Foresters recieved a cancelationrequest along with a replacment form. Today they said all they got was the policy in a plain manila envelope with no return address. I do like their policies but it gets very tiresome dealing with customer service reps who don't know what they are doing. I can call Foresters with the same question three times in a row and get three different answers.

Foresters can be pretty hard to deal with. I called them today about a commission question. I got a recording that they would call me back within a "four hour" period. I left a message saying I intended to call an insurance company, not the cable company. That's been almost 6 hours now and no call back.

I'm looking to change my "go to" company from RNA. Foresters is certainly not in consideration.

What has RNA done to you?

Nothing particularly to me, but they just keep piling on the business prevention rules and they are too high maintenance for me to feel good about them being my main company.

They just made a rule where clients cannot move their draft date to later in the month unless they pay two months premium. I had a lady that wanted to move her draft date from the 1st to the 4th. They used to do that with no problem as does every other FE company. New day, new rule.

Foresters used to do that when I first started writing for them about 6 years ago. They came around to the 21st century.

Plus, with RNA I just hate their POS interview. I'm not really mad at RNA. I will still use them when it's the client's best interest. I used to go into homes planning on using RNA if at all possible. I'm not doing that now.
