Combined Insurance - What's their deal?

I want to say upfront that I have not worked for Combined or even interviewed with them. I have worked and still do with ex-Combined agents. They ALL tell me that the initial training is unsurpassed. They put together a training program with top Psycologists from around the country. The training I believe is about 2 weeks and very intense. I have heard it suggested that a green agent should start with them, get the training and maybe work with them for a bit, but not for long. They say not to work with them for long because the products are for crap. That's my understanding of it from years of hearing about it anyway.

Exactly what I have heard. Combined will teach you to sell. Once you know how to sell you can write your own ticket.

Back in the day when I lived off of Fletcher Ave - the chit then was the Bottle Clubs. They still have them M&M?

They didn't even open till midnight. You would take a bottle of your booze - then just pay for the mixer ( or the cup of ice ) - ( or heck - just the cup ) and you could drink all night and share with friends . . .

The one I went to the most was CasaBlanca - I think that was the name . . .

Don't remember the byob clubs, but of course the "other" ones that were quite famous.

I lived off of Fletcher as well, up on 42nd Street way up towards the end in a complex called (I think) Vestavia. It was all these Greek names like Hellenic Drive and Odyssey Drive and stuff. Friends lived by the Quick Stop (can't remember if it was Circle K or 7-11) at Camelot which was a complete dive, but within walking distance of my then favorite student-budget watering hole, The Greenery.

I wonder if any of that is still up there?

I was looking on the google maps and they have photographed all of that area, I see that the Eckerd I used to work at on Fowler and Nebraska is closed although the BK is still there on the corner. Wow

If one were to start thier career at combined to learn the ropes of selling insurance, what would be the amount of time before moving on?
1 year, 2 years?
Are you typically under contract for a specified period?
under a non-compete agreement?

I'm just trying to learn how this all works.

It depends on the management at combined. I am sure some are legit. I almost went to work for them in like 2005, the managers were creeping me out- to the max. I should go check them out now, to see if it has changed in the three years.
