Good luck! Think the rain you are getting passed our way last night. The wind is next, hold on to your hat!

So here are my first day results. I knocked on 23 doors. I spoke to 8 people. I had 3 sit downs/presentations. One guy was pretty well set. Had all normal debts paid. Owned a 34 ft yacht. Funerals for himself and wife paid for, children and grandchildren had inheritance coming. I had nothing in my bag to offer him. Set two appointments for future sales, one wanted to pay off posturpedic bed in December, other one wanted to wait until 18th to begin her debit. Two follow up appointments on Saturday. Though no sale was made, I consider my first day of door knocking to be a success. Will post 2nd day results tomorrow.

I door knocked on leads that were 6 months to 3 years old. I felt response was fair considering they were not what I would call great leads. I think I will do well with a good leads program.

Good activity, now you need to work a little bit smarter so you do not spend all your career knocking doors.

On the sit down presentations how many referrals did you ask for? If you got 3 each, these are your warm leads in 9 future calls and no money spent on leads.

Even if you can not sell something to somebody, they may know somebody with a need that you can fore fill. Most importantly a referral from a referral is the most powerful lead you will ever have, it means you are successful.

Thanks for the referral tip. I'm gonna go after them today. Let you know results tonight. Rain is gone, I smell money!!

I am going to give you a very powerful referral question which saves the client going through a lot of thought processes and gives very good referrals, remember when you leave a call the worst case scenario is one referral even if you have not made a sale and this question generally gets it.

The question is!

'If your house burnt down last night whose home would you be staying at right now?'

Most clients answer that straight away without thinking and thats your referral.

Don't be so fast to jump into that kind of referral trickery. Tlak to producers about getting referrals, not to marketers.

I'm sure there are some producers out there that ask for referrals. I have yet to meet one. Especially one that would hide the asking in veiled question.

The very best producers that I have ever had the opportunity to learn from do not ask for referrals. They get plaenty, but they do not ask for them.

Myself, I do not ask and haven't ever. Well, change that, I probably did when I first got started because I was told by some full of shat marketer that it was a good idea. I do know the quickest way to lose a friend is to send an insurance hawker over to their house.:D

I would estimate that 25% of my business is referrals, so it is a very important part of the business. My take is that referrals are earned, not given.
